The main source of power in Jujutsu Kaisen is cursed energy. Every sorcerer possesses an innate cursed technique that is unique to them. Some jujutsu sorcerers might have similar innate techniques, but their individuality is reflected in the way they use their techniques efficiently.

Since the beginning of the anime, viewers have appreciated the diverse cursed techniques of the characters. The large number of characters also gave rise to some unexplored techniques, resulting in underrated cursed techniques. The list explores the 10 most underrated Cursed Techniques from the manga.

Disclaimer: This article contains major spoilers from the manga and reflects the writer's opinion.

Takako Uro and Masamichi Yaga are among the 10 Jujutsu Kaisen characters possessing underrated cursed techniques

10) Photography Cursed Technique (Nanako Hasaba)

With the rise of smartphones in the era Jujutsu Kaisen is set, manipulating subjects by photographing them can be dangerous. Nanako doesn't get a lot of chances to display her cursed technique, making it one of the underrated cursed techniques. She became a curse user along with Mimiko after being saved by Suguru Geto. She was abused by non-sorcerers in childhood and was raised by a special-grade curse user.

Given her premises, Nanako had the potential to deal grave damages to the jujutsu world as well as non-sorcerers. Nanako actively used her cursed technique while trying to photograph Sukuna in the Shibuya Incident arc. It was the only time viewers saw her using it before Sukuna killed the twin sisters. The lack of exploration of her technique makes it one of the most underrated cursed techniques.

9) Jacob's Ladder (Hana Kurusu)

Hana was introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen as a Culling Game player. With Angel incarnated in her body, she possesses Jacob's Ladder, which can extinguish other cursed techniques. The Extension Technique played a pivotal role in unsealing Satoru Gojo and was also used as a failed offense against Sukuna to separate him from Megumi's body.

As one of the underrated Cursed Techniques, Jacob's Ladder is used only two times by Hana and one time by Yuta through his Cursed Technique, Copy. Jacob's Ladder is a power technique that gave rise to several fan theories. However, as it appeared in the manga only a few times, it leaves many possible applications of the technique unexplored.

8) Solo Forbidden Area (Utahime Iori)

As a faculty member of Kyoto High, Utahime is hardly seen exercising her Cursed Technique. Utahime's Cursed Technique allows her to amplify the cursed energy of herself as well as other sorcerers within a specific range. Through rituals like singing and dancing, the amplified technique can have a maximum output of 120%.

Utahime isn't supposed to be on the frontline in battles, as observed in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 when Momo urges her to stay protected in the back. The only time one sees Utahime use Solo Forbidden Area is during the Shinjuku Showdown arc when she assists Gojo before his fight with Sukuna.

It is easily one of the underrated Cursed Technique because fans don't get to observe it in its full swing. Solo Forbidden Area had the potential to be used in instances apart from the appealing fights, though the anime doesn't have plenty of filler episodes.

7) Sky Manipulation (Takako Uro)

Takako Uro is another Culling Game player with a powerful Cursed Technique. Sky Manipulation allows Uro to manipulate the sky or the airspace around her. It helps to cover up her body and attack opponents with skillful tactics. She is one of the reincarnated Jujutsu Kaisen sorcerers with an innate domain. However, readers don't get to see her domain when it collapses shortly during her fight against Yuta and Ryu.

The ability to manipulate the sky holds diverse possibilities. Uro is mainly observed using the airspace around her as sheets and using Thin Ice Breaker as an extension of Sky Manipulation. It is one of the underrated Cursed Techniques because viewers only see it being used in one fight. Uro does not reappear after her fight against Yuta and Ryu, leaving the powerful Cursed Technique unexplored.

6) Construction (Mai Zenin)

As Maki's twin who possesses cursed energy, Mai is introduced in season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen as an arrogant student of Kyoto High. Constructing an object using cursed energy can be an incredibly powerful technique. Mai is mainly seen constructing one bullet per day, which is her limit. It exhibits her low potential as a jujutsu sorcerer.

Mai has marvelous firing skills, enabling her to attack from long range. Effective training and usage of Construction could have led to a strong jujutsu sorcerer. In the Perfect Preparation arc, Mai constructs a cursed tool sword before dying. It gave a glimpse of her potential growth had she survived.

5) Comedian (Fumihiko Takaba)

Takaba is yet another Culling Game player who is an awakened sorcerer rather than an incarnated one. His Cursed Technique lets Takaba project alternate reality in his mind as well as his target's imagination while blowing serious damage to the opponents, as Kenjaku observes during their fight in the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

He appears for the first time in a fight against Reggie Star and Iori Hazenoki while protecting Mengumi from the two incarnated sorcerers. As attacks from cursed spirits don't work on Takaba, the technique makes him strong with the potential to go up against special-grade sorcerers. Like many other underrated Cursed Techniques, the potential danger posed by Comedian is left unexplored and leaves readers craving for more.

4) Cursed Corpse (Masamichi Yaga)

As the principal of Tokyo High, Yaga possesses Cursed Corpse as his technique. Yaga's personality makes him the right fit to be a teacher for Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, and Shoko Ieiri, as seen in Gojo's Past arc. Yaga's magnus opus is Panda, whom he considers his son. The diverse application of Cursed Corpse is left unexplored, making it one of the underrated Cursed Techniques.

He is one of the characters in Jujutsu Kaisen whose early death leaves readers with a sense of dissatisfaction. Additionally, it made Cursed Corpse one of the underrated Cursed Techniques because of the threat it posed to the jujutsu world. Therefore, the autonomous cursed corpses created by Yaga could not be fully realized in terms of their strength and the extent of their operation.

3) Cursed Speech (Toge Inumaki)

Similar to other underrated Cursed Techniques, Inumaki's Cursed Speech is a technique to be feared. As a first-year student at Tokyo High, Inumaki was able to defeat a special-grade curse along with Yuta in the Cursed Child arc. In the Kyoto Goodwill Event arc, he goes against Hanami alongside Kamo and Megumi.

Had he been an antagonist, Inumaki would surely be a formidable opponent to defeat. The self-imposed restriction on usage of his Cursed Technique leaves it unexplored, especially after he loses an arm in the Shibuya Incident arc. Yuta is seen copying Cursed Speech twice throughout the manga, but Inumaki's lack of participation makes it one of the underrated Cursed Techniques, as one is unable to view the original user realize the potential of the technique.

2) Love Rendezvous (Kirara Hoshi)

Kirara's Cursed Technique is one of the most complex ones in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. Central to astronomical concepts, it took quite a bit of struggle on Megumi's part to figure out Love Rendezvous. The technique follows the Southern Cross constellation to mark objects with cursed energy.

Gege Akutami has portrayed immense expertise by incorporating astronomy in Cursed Techniques. The fact that readers have seen the workings of Love Rendezvous in action only once makes it mysterious and elusive. Furthermore, it is not exercised in a serious battle against major antagonists, which makes Love Rendezvous one of the most underrated Cursed Techniques.

1) Star Rage (Yuki Tsukumo)

Yuki exhibits one of the most underrated Cursed Techniques in the universe of Jujutsu Kaisen. She is the only female Jujutsu Kaisen character with the rank of a special-grade sorcerer. Yuki appears for the first time in a flashback when Todo reminisces about his master. However, it is not until the Culling Game arc that one sees her in full action.

In her fight against Kenjaku, Yuki uses Star Rage to blow serious damage to Kenjaku along with Garuda, her shikigami. Like other underrated Cursed Techniques, Star Rage is not explored to its full potential. Yuki uses black hole as a last resort to kill Kenjaku, but the curse user survives the attack using Kaori's Cursed Technique. The untimely death of Yuki leaves readers unsatisfied because of the lost potential of Star Rage.

Final Thoughts

Most of the underrated Cursed Techniques listed here have been demonstrated a single time. Furthermore, the manga consists of a large number of characters whose Cursed Technique has been mentioned or explored. Some characters like Satoru, Suguru, Megumi, and Yuta have received more limelight for their Cursed Techniques than others. While it is not possible to explore each Cursed Technique in detail, the characters in this list possess underrated techniques.
