Uryu Ishida's true powers are yet to be revealed, and his battle in Bleach TYBW part 3 will prove it

Bleach TYBW part 3 will not only demonstrate why Uryu Ishida was selected as Yhwach's heir but also emphasize the major transformations he will undergo in the forthcoming installments. Throughout the Thousand Year Blood War, Uryu's powers and abilities have evolved to a point where he potentially rivals the protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki.

While the Bleach manga did not fully explore Uryu's abilities, it is hoped that the original anime scenes will do him justice. The upcoming parts of the TYBW arc will reveal Ishida Uryu's true potential with the Schrift he received from Yhwach, 'A' - The Antithesis. Yhwach acknowledged, "You possess a power that surpasses my own," affirming Uryu's position as one of the most powerful characters in Bleach.

The upcoming battle between Uryu and Senjumaru is a crucial moment that will unveil Uryu's intricate abilities. It is an anime-original battle, but it is still considered canon. Mangaka Tite Kubo intended to incorporate this fight in the Bleach manga but could not do so due to tight deadlines. Fans were already given a sneak peek of the "Uno reverse" in the Bleach TYBW part 3 trailer, heightening the anticipation for this epic showdown.

The concept of Ishida Uryu's Schrift will be truly seen in Bleach TYBW part 3

Yhwach, the emperor of the Wandenreich and the progenitor of Quincy, can bestow his powers upon others. By performing a ritual, a few select Quincy receive a unique designation called Schrift, represented by the English alphabet. Each of these letter designations represents a specific ability granted by Yhwach through his blood.

Ishida Uryu shares the same letter 'A' as Yhwach even though their abilities, The Almighty and The Antithesis, are polar opposites. The Almighty can alter the future, while the Antithesis can alter the past. However, the latter is more dominant due to its potentially undiscovered power, which could even revive the dead at their full potential.

In the Bleach TYBW anime, there was already an indication that Uryu had used The Antithesis to exchange Yhwach's position with a medallion to escape from Kirio Hikifune's womb during the battle of Schutzstaffel against Squad Zero. Towards the end of TYBW Cour 2, Senjumaru ensnared the elite Sternritters using her unexplained but devastating Bankai, Shatatsu Karagara Shigaraminotsuji.

The Antithesis lets Uryu choose between two points, link them, take the events that occurred between them, and reverse them entirely without failure. At its full potential, this technique might reverse the effects of conceptual abilities such as The Almighty, Kyoukasuigetsu, etc. This makes Antithesis exceedingly treacherous for the enemy to resist and survive against Uryu.

The battle between Uryu and Senjumaru in Bleach TYBW part 3 is set to be deadly for the soul society. Uryu will save the other Schutzstaffel members by reversing Senjumaru's Bankai with the Antithesis.

As per a Reddit thread, fans at the Tokyo pre-screening of Bleach TYBW part 3 said, "There is an "amazing" Uryuu scene that may take a few rewatches to understand," referring to the Antithesis.

Even in the Bleach manga, Jugram Haschwalt foresaw Uryu Ishida's betrayal, and Uryu had to fight Jugram with all he had. In this fierce battle between the two elites, Uryu was able to reverse all the wounds he suffered from Haschwalth.

Jugram described Uryu's Schrift as a power rivaling even The Almighty. Moreover, Ishida Uryu is immune to Yhwach's Auswählen. Hence, Yhwach chose him to carry his legacy and fulfill his vision.

Final thoughts

Uryu Ishida can finally change his destiny and prove his worth with Bleach TYBW part 3, set to be released on October 5, 2024. With Tite Kubo's involvement in the production process, Uryu's character is set to become stronger and pivotal to the series.
