Uzumaki anime is set to premiere on September 28, 2024, and the production team released the preview for the first episode on September 24, 2024. The preview trailer again confirmed that this series could be a trendsetter for pure horror manga adaptations in the future. It also hinted at the pacing of the anime series.

The preview diverted from the footage released in the trailers and revealed a scene where Kirei takes her friend Azami Kurotani to meet her boyfriend Shuichi at the station. Shuichi catches a strange vibe from her and brands it as the 'spiral' after running away from her with Kirei. The latter part of the preview showcased Azami confronting Shuichi about the crescent scar on her forehead.

Uzumaki anime episode 1 preview: Azami Kurotani is introduced

The preview trailer for the episode commenced with Kirei and Azami Kurotani walking towards the station. The former claimed Azami could have met or even walked with Shuichi, Kirei's boyfriend. As they walked into the station, they were stared at by some boys who wanted to talk to them, but the girls ignored them.

Shuichi then exited the train and was greeted by Kirei, who introduced Azami to him as her classmate. Shuichi felt an eerie aura emerging from Azami, which caused him to excuse himself in a hurry and run away while holding Kirei's arm.

Kirei, shocked by how Shuichi abandoned her friend and ran away while pulling her, asked Shuichi why he did such a thing. Shuichi was surprised that Kirei didn't notice it and revealed that he felt the presence of a 'spiral' from Azami. He warned Kirei about Azami and asked her to stay wary of the girl in the future.

While Shuichi was walking around town, Azami cornered him and asked why he hadn't fallen for her, even though every other boy who witnessed her fell for her instantly. Shuichi fell to the ground and pointed at her forehead at which she revealed a crescent-shaped scar which was present on her forehead.

As Shuichi wasn't falling for her, she decided to use her scare, which was mysteriously known for luring others. Shuichi shouted that this scar was a 'spiral,' the curse their village inhabited which also took the life of Shuichi's parents. Shuichi then asked her to run away from the village.

Azami was furious over this and stated that she couldn't stop thinking about Shuichi and wanted him for herself. A flashback to the past played in Shuichi's mind about his father's obsession with spirals as he ran away from Azami.

The animation style used by the series' animation studio, combining grayscale colors with an above-average CGI animation, was yet again confirmed as a success as the preview trailer seemed like a motion picture of the manga series.

Moreover, the preview trailer of episode 1 showcased the adaptation of the third chapter, meaning that the series could adapt five chapters per episode, meeting the total count of chapters (20) in the total count of the episodes (4) of the anime series.
