Uzumaki episode 2 was released on October 6, 2024, and the episode reminded the anime fandom of the blunders in the past when animation studios ruined anime adaptations. The Uzumaki anime faced the same fate, with its second episode, as these past anime because not only did it have mediocre animation, but the words of one of its staff members revealed the catastrophe that is going on with the anime.

The executive producer of the anime revealed that the anime adaptation was set to doom from the very start without blaming anyone. This was also evident from how the project was thrown to a mysterious animation studio after the main studio left or was kicked out perfectly, making the wait of at least half a decade amount to nothing.

Uzumaki episode 2 takes the anime down the rabbit hole with its mediocre animation

Uzumaki episode 1 was a much-needed start for this anime because the fandom was expecting it to rectify the reputation of its genre, the horror genre, and it kind of did it. So, all eyes were on the second episode, which could have made the series known as a perfect anime adaptation in the anime fandom. However, the opposite happened, and for all the wrong reasons.

After the premiere of episode 1, the anime's production team released the staff members of the first two episodes, and this shocked the anime fandom. Not only was the first episode animated by a mysterious studio, Fugaku but the second episode was set to be animated by Studio Akatsuki, vanishing the name of the studio which announced the anime adaptation five years ago, Studio Drive.

Studio Drive had just recently animated Konosuba season 3, which was one of the reasons why the anime fandom was adamant about getting Uzumaki animated by this studio. However, as Studio Fugaku also did a 'satisfactory' job animating the first episode, Uzumaki episode 2 anime adaptation by Studio Akatsuki was also anticipated by the fandom.

Sadly, Uzumaki episode 2 was an utter nightmare for every reason the fandom was expecting the anime to be a game-changer. For starters, the animation was glitchy, which is expected from a 3D animated show, but not from the Uzumaki as the first episode had set a standard.

The episode's choreography and direction were considered a disservice, but surprisingly, they were still hoping for a better future. However, their hopes were drowned after the production team announced that the staff members of the third episode were the same as the second episode. So, the fandom branded the series a flop with no way of redeeming itself.

Final Thoughts

Even though episode 3 was animated by the same animation studio as Uzumaki episode 2, the reception of episode 3 was much better than the previous one. However, this doesn't mean that the anime adaptation has been redeemed because the fandom waited more than five years for it.

One of the series executive producers, Jason DeMarco, said he had no idea who to blame for the current condition of Uzumaki, but he does state that the anime got "screwed over" by an outside party. This also puts the fandom on the spot because they were expecting good things from the anime adaptation of one of Junji Ito's best manga series.
