Uzumaki episode 2 recap
In the previous episode, Kirie's classmates Kazunori and Yoriko, frustrated by their families' ongoing feud and knowing their love would never be accepted, decided to run away. Unfortunately, they were caught during their escape and ended up cornered at the shore. To avoid being separated from their families, they entwined their bodies like snakes and vanished into the sea.
Meanwhile, two other classmates, Katayama and another student, along with a teacher, experienced bizarre transformations, turning into giant snails. The students were placed in a cage, but when Katayama's family was informed, they refused to accept this.

Kirie's hair also underwent a transformation, growing rapidly and curling at the ends. When she tried to get a haircut, her hair grew even longer and attacked the hairdresser. It then grew vertically, branching into spirals that hypnotized anyone who looked at them.
Kyoko, jealous of the attention Kirie was receiving, grew her hair similarly, and this led to a face-off. Kirie was saved by Shuichi's timely intervention, who bravely cut her hair. However, Kyoko, who emerged victorious, was drained of her life force by her own hair.

The episode also introduced Mitsuru, a classmate obsessed with Kirie. Despite Kirie's lack of interest, Mitsuru continued to stalk and scare her. In a desperate attempt to prove his love, he tried to stop a car and ended up dying in a horrific accident.
In the final part of the episode, Kirie's brother Mitsuo and some other kids explored a lighthouse that had been inactive for years but suddenly lit up. Kirie followed them and had a terrifying experience climbing the stairs, encountering corpses along the way.
At the top, she discovered that the lens had melted into a spiral shape. Realizing that the light reflected through it could heat the entire space, she managed to escape with her brother, but one boy was not so lucky and burned to death.

What to expect from Uzumaki episode 3 (speculative)?
In Uzumaki episode 3, it is expected that the setting will shift to Kurouzu Hospital, where Kirie will probably receive treatment for her burn injuries. This setting will also provide an opportunity for the creators to wrap up Shuichi's mother's storyline.
However, as manga readers are already aware, there will be more horrific spiral-related events that await at this hospital.
