Uzumaki episode 4: The Dragonfly Pong emerges in Kurouzu Village
Uzumaki episode 4 commenced with some news reporters from Toyo TV deporting at the island where Kurouzu village was located. As they traveled towards the village in their car, they were attacked by a hurricane which destroyed their car. Out of the bunch, only Chie was left alive. As she exited the car, she realized that she could see her breath even though it wasn't cold.
Chie was saved by Kirie and Mitsuo, the female protagonist's brother. As they walked by, they saw a bunch of kids making whirlwinds to annoy others. These kids were titled the Butterfly Gang and Kirie emphasized before Chie to avoid them at any cost.
As they escorted Chie to safety, they showed her the Dragonfly Pond which was formed when all the storms that were destroying the village combined into one. This pond was the reason why a little disturbance led to the generation of a big whirlwind. As they reached the shelter, everyone rejected Chie's entry because they were already cramped.
So, Kirie's family and Shuichia exited the shelter as everyone started looking for a new shelter. As they traveled, they stumbled upon some grown-ups grilling the snail people (similar to what happened to Takayama) and feasting on them. Kirie was disgusted by this because the snail people were humans once.
These grown-ups saw Kirie and her group and invited them to the feast. As expected, Kirie's party rejected but the grown-ups were persistent. They branded themselves as the Dragonfly gang and tried getting pushy with Kirie but she pushed them aside. The Dragonfly Gang was eventually consumed by the Dragonfly Pond when they tried fighting Kirie's group.
Uzumaki episode 4: The shelter people are also consumed by the spiral curse
Uzumaki episode 4 continued the journey of Kirie and her group as they stumbled upon some villagers who were worried about their wellbeing. After some discussion, some villagers discovered that their backs were transforming into spirals. As despair hit the villagers, they rushed back to the shelter in hopes of avoiding the spiral curse.
As they reached the shelter, the people inside it again rejected their entry and the villagers started fighting. During their fight, a part of the shelter was destroyed which gave the villagers a chance to enter the shelter. To their despair, the people inside the shelter were all consumed by the spiral curse and everyone's body had entangled upon each other.
Uzumaki episode 4: Mitsuo gets cursed as there is no escaping the spiral
Uzumaki episode 4 then saw the villagers and Kirie's group abandon the shelter and look for other places where they could take refuge. Unfortunately, as they were traveling, Mitsuo's back started forming a spiral. So, Kirie was now adamant about leaving the village so that Mitsuo's curse could be lifted. So, the group started looking for an exit to reach the other village.
On their way, they encountered the same villagers whose conditions were worse than before. One of them eventually got consumed by the spiral curse and the other villagers feasted on him as if every sense of morality in their minds had vanished.
However, Kirie's group left because Mitsuo was also affected by the spiral and his life was in danger. As they reached the woods, they again encountered the same villagers who were adamant about feasting on Mitsuo because he had almost transformed into a snail.
Luckily, Shuichi decided to carry him, but his body transformed into a snail midway. Fortunately, they reached the bay of the island where Kirie had to reprimand Mitsuo, who had transformed into a snail, to leave their side to stay alive.

Uzumaki episode 4: Kirie and Shuichi discover the spiral ruins where they meet their end
Uzumaki episode 4 then saw Kirie, Chie, and Shuichi return to the village after leaving Mitsuo outside. However, the village had been consumed by the spiral curse because every house was arranged in a spiral manner. Amidst all this, Kirie was still adamant about finding her parents and the others accompanied her in the search.
As they entered the spiral-ed Kurouzu village, they encountered an old acquaintance who told them about someone making pottery at the center of the village. Kirie thought this could be her father as they ran towards the center, which was also the epicenter of the spiral curse. Unfortunately, on their way, Chie was consumed by the spiral people.
However, Kirie and Shuichi had to continue their journey as they reached the center from where the spiral was emerging. They descended the spiral but both of them eventually fell down. When Kirie woke up, she witnessed humungous ruins that were shaped like a spiral. Besides these ruins were lying Shuichi who called Kirie towards him.
Shuichi speculated that the builders who constructed these ruins gave them a will of their own and every century, these ruins consume a village after which the ruins go to sleep. Shuichi then told Kirie to run, as if there were hopes of her staying alive.
As expected, Kirie couldn't abandon her lover and stayed with Shuichi. These two were then cursed as the spiral ruins closed their doors, successfully destroying Kurouzu village, and going to sleep for a century.
