Dragon Ball Super saw the Prince of All Saiyans, Vegeta, ascend into godhood, evolving from a regular Super Saiyan into Super Saiyan Blue Evolved. He eventually became one of the strongest warriors in the multiverse. However, fans have always been curious about what his Super Saiyan 3 form would look like and whether he could even achieve it.
Dragon Ball Daima finally answered this question, as Vegeta transformed into Super Saiyan 3 for the first time in the series' history. This revelation sparked a new question among fans as to why Vegeta never used Super Saiyan 3 in his fight against Beerus. This article will explore the reasons Vegeta didn't transform into Super Saiyan 3 during Dragon Ball Super.
Why Vegeta didn’t use Super Saiyan 3 against Beerus in Dragon Ball Super
Vegeta prioritizes only two things in this world: his pride and his Bulma. So, when the God of Destruction, Beerus, slapped Bulma in Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta lost his temper, transforming into Super Saiyan 2, and declared that he'd make Beerus suffer for hurting his wife.
Despite being vastly outmatched in strength, Vegeta managed to put Beerus on the defensive, forcing him to take their fight more seriously. Previously, Beerus had shown little to no trouble dodging Goku's attacks, even in his Super Saiyan 3 form. Yet Vegeta landed several powerful blows on him, even unleashing his Galick Gun, before ultimately being knocked out with a finger-flick.
Beerus acknowledged Vegeta's strength, admitting that it took 10% of his power to defeat him, noting that he hadn't used this much power in a fight in a long time. He even praised Vegeta for putting up a better fight than Goku, proving that Vegeta's Super Saiyan 2 form in Dragon Ball Super was formidable.
Fans have always wondered why Vegeta didn't use the Super Saiyan 3 form, with many speculating that it was because he didn't achieve that form. However, in the latest episode of Dragon Ball Daima, it was proven that Vegeta can transform into Super Saiyan 3. This begs to questionof why didn't he use this clearly superior form when fighting Beerus.
The answer might be pretty simple, considering that Super Saiyan 3 has multiple drawbacks. First, Vegeta was blinded by rage seeing Beerus hit Bulma and it probably came down to his instinct to go Super Saiyan 2 and hit Beerus with all he's got. Secondly, the energy consumption from Super Saiyan 3 is very taxing and the form can't be maintained for a long time.
The form also takes a huge physical strain on the body, even after powering down. Goku in his Super Saiyan 3 form was two shot by Beerus proving it wasn't effective when fighting an opponent like the God of Destruction. Vegeta is a very tactical fighter so it's possible he used this form during training and saw that it was not conducive to his style of fighting, deciding to not use it.
However, some fans believe that this might just be a case of retconning and fixing mistakes from Dragon Ball Super, as the series missed out on showing Vegeta use transformations such as Super Saiyan 3 or Super Saiyan God, directly showing him use Super Saiyan Blue.
Whatever the truth, it was truly spectacular seeing Vegeta crash out on Beerus, and seeing him unleash his Super Saiyan 3 form is a monumental moment in the history of Dragon Ball.
