The first episode of the Villainess Level 99 anime, titled 'The Hidden Boss Enrolls in the Academy' started off by introducing Alicia Ehnleit, a commoner who got the opportunity to enroll in the prestigious Royal Academy due to her unique ability to use light magic.
Alicia's first day at the Royal Academy was full of mishaps. She was late in reaching the school because she helped an elderly woman on the street. Furthermore, she got into trouble for breaking a window and was punished with extra duties for a week. Despite the rough start, she managed to form some special bonds with her fellow students at the Academy.
In the middle of the episode, however, Alicia came across Yumiella Dolkness, who intimidated her with just a single glance. It was then revealed that the world is just a fantasy RPG called 'Light Magic and the Hero,' and Yumiella was apparently the hidden boss. She went on to reveal that in her past life, she was a college student who used to play the game every day.
However, she somehow got reincarnated as Yumiella Dolkness in the game and regained the memories from her past life when she was five years old. Knowing that her role in the title was to eventually be defeated by Alicia and her comrades, she tried to live a peaceful life by avoiding other characters so that she could somehow avoid becoming the hidden boss.
Regardless, she decided to increase her level through training every day so that she could be strong enough to defeat the Demon Lord of the game if it ever came to that. After training countless times in a dungeon, Yumiella finally managed to get stronger and increase her level to 99.
Since she was unaware of her level, it caused quite a lot of commotion during the Royal Entrance Ceremony at the Academy when they assessed her level. With this, the episode came to an end, with Yumiella wondering if she would be able to live a peaceful life after all.
