Dragon Ball Super viewers often ask the question "Was Vados sad when Champa died" during the events of the Tournament of Power arc in the anime because of a small frame. There's a moment where the Omni-King erases the entirety of Universe 6 after they get eliminated in the competition. Vados does a small bow to Champa, the God of Destruction of the universe, before dying.

This is a very small detail a lot of people watching Dragon Ball Super might have missed but goes to show that Vados cared for Champa and had a degree of respect for him.

After all, the Angel of each universe has to choose and train the respective God of Destruction, so it's fair to say that these two characters were at least on good terms, which means her feeling sad for his death is warranted.

A small frame in episode 118 of Dragon Ball Super shows Vados bowing to Champa as the latter dies in the Tournament of Power arc, which could hint at a degree of sadness.

However, the series never gives the Angel a moment to showcase her emotions for the death of her student, so it's difficult to confirm whether she was sad or not, leaving it open to interpretation.

It's worth pointing out, though, that Vados bowing is at least a sign of respect toward Champa and rightfully so. He became a powerful God of Destruction, often rivaling with someone of Beerus' caliber, and has been hinted throughout the story that they have been working together for quite some.

Vados and Champa's relationship in Dragon Ball Super

The main reason a lot of Dragon Ball Super fans ask the question "Was Vados sad when Champa died?" is because of their relationship. Vados is seen teasing Champa and messing around with him due to the latter's natural impatience and rash behavior, which would make her reaction to Champa's death all the more surprising.

However, it makes sense that Vados would at least respect her pupil because they had worked together for a long time. Considering the Angel's playful nature, it seems she cared for Champa and enjoyed his company, which would explain why she bowed to him: she was saying goodbye to a person she at least had a degree of appreciation for.

It's also worth pointing out, though, that this is mere fan speculation, and Dragon Ball Super never fully addresses Vados' reaction to Champa being erased in the Tournament of Power.

Furthermore, the story never truly gives a lot of focus to their dynamic as an Angel and God of Destruction, so fans can only come up with their own interpretations based on what happened in this small frame.
