Re:Zero season 3 episode 1 marked the return of the series with a 90-minute special episode that aimed to adapt an entire light novel volume. Animated by Studio White Fox, Re:Zero is one of the most anticipated Fall 2024 anime alongside Bleach TYBW arc part 3 and Dragon Ball Daima.

While many fans had reservations about the pacing after watching the first few minutes, the final plot twist, well-thought-out sound design, and depiction of Subaru's Return by Death ability helped make it one of the best isekai episodes to air in recent times.

The season will have 16 episodes, all of which will be available on Crunchyroll and Muse Asia's YouTube channel.

Re:Zero season 3 episode 1 mainly focused on the Water City of Priestella arc, introducing numerous Archbishops, including the much-awaited debut of Sirius.

While the entire episode maintained the typical dreadful tone that has become a signature of the series, the final plot scene, where Subaru's Return by Death follows the simultaneous demise of the entire town, elevated the episode to a whole new level.

Re:Zero season 3 debuted three years after season 2 concluded its serialization. The Water City of Priestella arc is arguably one of the most eventful and dreadful arcs in the series, featuring the introduction of Sirius and the emergence of many other Bishops into the limelight.

Given that the first episode delivered a unique depiction of Subaru's Return by Death ability, many fans have expressed how this marks the anime reclaiming its former glory.

"This episode is so PEAK. Thank you White Fox 🙏," one fan said.

"Man they really know how to make scene tense every time a witch cult appears s**t gets serious," another fan said.

Some fans praised the 90-minute episode as a masterclass, noting how they eagerly await new episodes every Wednesday. Many were impressed by the studio’s ability to attempt the adaptation of an entire novel volume in a single episode.

"Insane how they made it to this chapter with one episode," one fan wrote.

"90 Min of straight Absolute Cinema 😭. That plot twist at the end of the episode was insane. We shall be seated on every Wednesday," another fan said.

Re:Zero season 3 episode 2 will be released on October 9, 2024, and will showcase the aftermath of the current events. This season is adapting arc 5 of the manga, which takes place in volumes 16-20.

Fans interested in continuing the story can start reading from volume 16 for a more immersive experience. Season 3 will have 16 episodes, adapted in a split-cour format with a two-month break between each cour.
