One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen have shared the position of being among the most popular and most discussed manga in the last decade. Although the stories have satisfied fans in many ways, the endings of Shonen and other popular genres often leave much to be desired.

The trend of disappointing manga endings, despite a good overall story, has been present ever since the divisive ending of Attack on Titan, followed by My Hero Academia, and most recently Jujutsu Kaisen, which has somehow become the most universally hated ending to date.

In response to these endings, many Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen fans have claimed that One Piece will be the next victim of a bad ending. However, One Piece fans have expressed their absolute trust in Oda and his vision.

One Piece at war against Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan fandom over which will have the worst ending

Many popular shonen anime have ended recently, with Akutami Gege's Jujutsu Kaisen and Horikoshi's My Hero Academia being two of the most recent. While the My Hero Academia ending received mixed reactions, Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan and Akutami Gege's story ended up being more universally disliked, with very few expressing satisfaction with their conclusions.

Many fans have taken this as a sign, claiming that One Piece fans will be the next to lament an abysmal ending.

Fan reactions to the claim

Fans of Eiichiro Oda's series have stated that doubting Oda at this point in the story is absurd, citing decade-old plotlines recently resolved in the Egghead Island arc as proof of his competence in writing. Other users have mentioned that fans of Eiichiro Oda's manga will never admit if the ending is bad, similar to how they never admit that Gear 5 is less iconic than Ultra Instinct Goku.

"doubting oda at this point of the story is insane," one fan said.
"One Piece fans coped saying Gear 5 was more iconic than UI. They gonna continue coping with the ending as well." Another fan said.

A few others have pointed out that Oda seems to love the vast world, its characters, and the story he has created, implying that everything will turn out fine. Many fans also mention that Oda has planned the story for literal decades and has been writing the manga for almost a quarter of a century, making it unlikely for him to deliver a bad ending.

"Oda doesn’t hate his own story, so we should be fine," one fan wrote.
"Nah oda has the entire ending planned out, no way he can fumble that bad." Another fan wrote.

While both Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan have concluded, Oda's story is still approaching its end and is currently in the final saga. The story has now reached the Elbaf arc, which will continue in One Piece chapter 1128, scheduled for release on October 6, 2024.
