On August 1, 2024, the anime adaptation of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman was announced. This announcement reminded the majority of the fandom of Paul Greyrat from Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation. Not only was the main poster of this newly announced anime adaptation similar to Jobless Reincarnation, but also, its main character resembled Paul.

The Jobless Reincation character died in the recent sequel of the series and upon witnessing the main character from the new anime adaptation, fans considered this the second coming of Paul. While some fans 'seriously' welcomed the character's return, some appreciated the newly appreciated anime adaptation for its uniqueness.

The newly announced anime adaptation will be animated by animation studios Passione and Hayabusa Film. The anime follows the story of Beryl Gardinant, a dojo master in a rural area, who gets called to the royal palace as the instructor of the royal guards and no matter what, he must live up to his role as most of the guards present there are his former pupils.

The newly announced anime adaptation resembles Mushoku Tensei as both anime series have their main posters written in the same style and font. Moreover, Beryl Gardinant also resembles Paul Greyrat in appearance as they share the same hair color and facial features.

Paul Greyrat died in Mushoku Tensei season 2 part 2 as he saved Rudeus from the dungeon monster Hydra. So, with the new anime adaptation announced featuring a similar character, fans considered this Paul's second coming.

Reactions from the fandom

The fandom gave the newly announced anime adaptation another name of the isekai story of Paul. Moreover, the fandom thought of this 'second coming of Paul' as a better person than the Mushoku Tensei one as Paul Greyrat had a degenerate personality.

The fandom also noticed the resemblance between the newly announced anime's poster and Jobless Reincarnation's poster. Lastly, a part of the fandom was confused about the newly announced anime adaptation's source as they were complaining about it not having much source material. This was because its source is the light novel, that rarely gets updated and a the manga series.

"Paul was reborn in another world" a fan said.
"Hope he's a better person than Paul was" another fan said.
"Dude even the art design for the title logo is similar to MT" another one claimed.
"BRO THE STORY ONLY HAS LIKE 20 CHAPTER THAT GETS UPDATED ONCE EVERY 8 MONTHS. HOW?!?!?!?!" another one said.

Final thoughts

Paul's death took the whole internet by storm as he didn't seem like a person who would sacrifice himself for the wellbeing of someone else. However, no matter what the situation, the love of a father for his son could never be discriminated and Paul's sacrifice proved it when he gave his life to save Rudeus. The new anime might come as funny to the fandom regarding Paul but he was one of the best fathers in anime.
