One of the reasons why Bleach stands out as a shonen title is because of the world-building done by Tite Kubo in his manga series. There is a plethora of characters for fans to love and adore. Each of these characters is unique in their own way, and they all have varying abilities on the battlefield.
Baraggan is a character whose popularity skyrocketed when the manga chapters were being released, and it only grew further as the anime continued adapting the manga series. He is a key member of Sosuke Aizen’s army and his ability to manipulate time makes him an important antagonist in the show.
Those who have not caught up to the animanga series are quite intrigued by his powers and appearance. This has often led to questions about Baraggan’s abilities in the Bleach series. Here’s everything you need to know about the aforementioned character in the popular animanga series.
Bleach: Baraggan’s Zanpakuto and Resurrección, explained
Baraggan’s abilities allow him to manipulate time in small amounts. Being an Espada, he represents death by aging, which grants him the ability to dilate time. This in turn gives him the ability to reduce the speed of attack - an ability that is quite useful on the battlefield. His abilities also include forceful aging, which means he can age anyone/anything he touches, thereby inflicting the damage that comes with it.
His Zanpakuto is called Arrogante, and the release phrase is called Resurrección. The Zanpakuto is a double-edged axe with round blades on either side. When the release phrase is uttered, the red-colored pendant on the axe releases flames which essentially burns his flesh away. As the flames persist, his body reduces to a mere skeleton. Resurrección enhances all of his natural abilities, making each of his techniques far more powerful.
Respira is a technique that involves releasing massive black and purple-colored smoke that ages and rots anything that comes in contact with it. The Gran Caida is a modified version of his original Zanpakuto. However, a staff connecting the blade is now replaced with four chains, allowing him to swing it with more fluidity.
Baraggan’s other abilities and powers in Bleach
Descorrer is a common ability that allowed him to open a Garganta. This technique allows him to travel between the Hueco Mundo, the Soul Society, and the Human World. We could see him use this ability to travel to the counterfeit Karakura town. Sonido is another ability that was a part of his arsenal.
This is the Hollow/Arrancar version of the Shunpo that Shinigami used in the Animanga series. Sonido allows him to make extremely fast-paced movements, and his proficiency is high enough to startle the likes of Sui Feng.
Aside from the aforementioned abilities, he also had incredibly high amounts of spiritual energy. In fact, his spiritual energy is so high that releasing the Zanpakuto within the Los Noches was forbidden as it would have taken out the entire fortress. His battle IQ could be observed in the fight against Sui Feng since he managed to see through her strategy with relative ease.
