New Dandadan fans want to know what the Evil Eye is because it is a running name in the community and is bound to appear in the latter half of this first season of the anime. Moreover, this yokai is connected to one of the main characters of the cast, Jin Enjoji, who is also going to appear later this season and is already in the opening.
The Evil Eye is a yokai connected to the Tsuchinoko sacrificial house in Dandadan and used to be a human boy who was bound to be sacrificed by the Kito family. However, he died of starvation while trapped in a cage and his spirit grew resentful of the rituals the Kito were doing, leading to him becoming a yokai and swearing to destroy humans.

Evil Eye's origins and true identity
At one point in his life, the Evil Eye was a human boy who was trapped by the Kito family and was going to be sacrificed by them as a way to save them from the eruption of a volcano. He was kept as a prisoner in the Tsuchinoko sacrificial house, where he suffered from starvation. His only solace during his captivity was watching other kids play outside.
This young boy died because of malnourishment while wanting to be one of the kids who could play with his friends. However, he came back to the house as a spirit and saw how the Kito family sacrificed several children time and time again, making him grow resentful and turn into the yokai known as the Evil Eye, swearing to destroy humanity out of hatred.
Evil Eye's role in Dandadan, explained
Eventually, Jin Enjoji and his family move to this house and the Evil Eye begins to haunt the young man, leading to a bizarre aura in that place. Jin, most commonly known as Jiji, calls his childhood friends, Momo Ayase, and Okarun to help him exorcise this house, which eventually leads to a confrontation with this creature.
As the party is dealing with another threat in the Tsuchinoko, Jiji learns what the Evil Eye is since this Yokai shares his past with him. The young man begins to feel pity for this creature and they eventually merge together, which the Dandadan manga initially depicts as something positive. But the yokai reveals that he was manipulating Jiji to get him as a vessel and now is going to kill all of humanity.
The Evil Eye manages to knock out Momo with relative ease, despite the latter's pleas for Jiji to wake up but Okarun steps up to defeat him. Since this yokai has the mentality of a child, the protagonist manages to convince him to not kill all humans and only focus on fighting him, which eventually leads to this creature becoming an ally and Jiji slowly learning to deal with these powers to help his friends.
Final thoughts
It is easy for anime-only fans of Dandadan to ask what the Evil Eye is since this yokai is yet to be introduced in the Science SARU production. It has proven to be one of the most iconic characters in the entire franchise, especially because of the design he has when Jiji uses his powers.
