It has been nearly three decades since Dragon Ball GT aired. However, that has not stopped fans from talking about it as they still carry some strong opinions on it. While some fans have opinions to share about the Super Saiyan 4 transformation, others are more concerned with its lackluster plot.

However, a major concern fans had with the series was the characters the anime majorly focused on. As seen in the first half of the anime, it majorly focused on Son Goku, Pan, and Trunks. But fans believe that the cast should have been much different.

These opinions were brought to light when one anime fan posted a fanart inspired by the original Dragon Ball series.

New Dragon Ball fanart depicts Trunks, Uub, and Maron on an adventure together

On June 23, 2024, one anime fan on X @CAL_MONSSI uploaded their new fanart inspired by the original Dragon Ball series.

As seen in the uploaded picture, the original scene from the anime features Bulma, Krillin, and Goku as they could be seen inside an automobile during their adventure to find the wish-granting orbs.

Using this scene as an inspiration, @CAL_MONSSI recreated it with the new generation of characters. Trunks replaced his mother Bulma, Maron replaced her father Krillin, and Uub replaced his master Son Goku.

While many fans asked where Goten was, @CAL_MONSSI insisted that the character would feature in another fanart, and as promised, he did.

Goten was featured in another illustration. The illustration recreated what looked like a scene from Dragon Ball Z. It saw Goten replace his older brother Gohan, while Pan replaced Goten and Bulla replaced Trunks.

While fans loved both illustrations, they had much to talk about the first one and even stated that Dragon Ball GT should have looked like that.

How fans reacted to the fanart

Upon seeing the illustration, anime fans were convinced that Dragon Ball GT should not have featured Son Goku as part of its central characters. While Trunks and Pan were part of the series' main trio, fans believed that the main cast should have only featured the new generation of characters like Trunks, Pan, and Goten. Such a concept would have also helped the series develop characters like Maron and Uub.

"GT tried to capture the original series' energy by turning Goku into a kid. Meanwhile, they should have just give the actual kids in the series more screentime," one fan said.
"Yeah. Uub can easily replace Goku in that part, and Goku can be a wise mentor for both him and Pan. But eh, they decided to stick with Kid Goku and had to turn him back into an adult (SSJ4) in later arc either way. I hope Daima can remedy this Kid Goku plot tho," another fan said.

However, the reality is that the anime's team had created the series to capture the essence of the original series. This is why Goku was turned back into a kid and the plot saw the characters looking for Dragon Balls again.

Many fans believed that Uub could have easily replaced Goku in the plot. However, the anime decided to stick with Kid Goku and later saw him transform into an adult through Super Saiyan 4. With that, considering how Dragon Ball Daima has a similar concept, fans wished that it would turn out well.
