Jujutsu Kaisen has a roster of intriguing characters that appear throughout the course of the series. Each one of them is distinct and uniquely created by mangaka Gege Akutami. Among them stands a peculiar Hana Kurusu aka Angel.

She's first referenced during the Perfect Preparation Arc by Master Tengen as one who can "extinguish" Curesed Techniques. Later, more of her is seen during the Culling Games as she carries Megumi Fushiguro to safety and then during the ongoing Shinjuku Showdown Arc.

As Jujutsu Kaisen's lore explains, due to a deal with Kenjaku, the Angel, an ancient Heian Era sorcerer, incarnated into Hana's body. Unlike most incarnations, the Angel allowed Hana to remain in control of herself.

They developed a symbiotic relationship, allowing Hana access to the Angel's techniques and abilities. As such, Hana's Cursed Technique became Technique Extinguishment.

As mentioned, due to the Angel incarnating into Hana's body and the pair existing harmoniously, Hana possesses the Technique Extinguishment Cursed Technique. It permits the "extinguishment" or nullification of any CT. That includes barriers and cursed objects, even special grades like the Prison Realm.

The Angel's technique seems to have a minute possibility of reverting incarnations to a pre-incarnation state. However, given the odds, it's far more likely that a given vessel will perish as a result.

It was thanks to the capability of Technique Extinguishment that Hana/Angel could free Gojo Satoru from the Prison Realm.

The Strengths and Weaknesses of Jacob's Ladder

Hana's CT looks to be an overly powerful one if cast correctly. As was seen, when she used as Ryomen Sukuna took over Megumi's body, it nearly killed him, as it was "cleansing" him.

The King of Curses had to adopted a underhand method to prevent himself from being wiped. The technique's major strength lies in its ability to nullify any and all CTs, including barriers and cursed objects.

However, if examined closely, there can be a few weaknesses to it. Firstly, Hana/Angel must be in relatively close proximity of the target to ensure they are caught in the pillar of light. Moreover, as with any sorcerer, the output of the technique depends on the sorcerer's wellbeing, i.e., how physically capable they are.

Although the ongoing Shinjuku Showdown Arc cast Maximum Output: Jacob's Ladder, its power was less, as she had lost an arm. So, to activate the technique at full power, the caster must be physically intact.

Every time Hana uses Jacob's Ladder in Jujutsu Kaisen

Hana/Angel has used Jacob's Ladder quite a few times in Jujutsu Kaisen. She first uses it during the Culling Games Arc when Sukuna takes over Megumi's body. Due to the possession being incomplete, Sukuna nearly gets wiped out before he pretends to be Megumi and severely injures Hana/Angel.

Next, Hana/Angel uses Jacob's Ladder to free Gojo from the Prison Realm. Previously, she had agreed to a deal - aid in wiping out all other Culling Game players, mainly the "Disgraced One" aka Sukuna in exchange for unsealing the Six Eyes user.

Hana/Angel once Jacob's Ladder once during the most recent bits of the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. As shown, Yuta Okkotsu had previously requested Hana and Angel to lend a hand in a final attempt at prying apart Megumi and Sukuna's souls. Although they agreed, the technique this time held lesser power, as Hana was missing an arm.
