"What is the Awesome Zone in Dandadan?" is a question that a lot of fans of the anime might be asking after the recent events in the Science SARU adaptation. It was shown during Okarun and Momo Ayase's second battle with the Serpo aliens and managed to hold them down for a while before they came up with a strategy to win.

The Awesome Zone is an ability where the Serpo race combines their psychokinetic powers to nullify the people within their range who have Yokai powers in Dandadan. When Okarun and Momo Ayase first faced the Serpo race at the beginning of the series, the former's Turbo Granny powers proved to be key to their victory, so these aliens learned from their mistakes in their second battle. This time around, they used an attack called Awesome Zone, which unites their psychokinetic powers to nullify those who have Yokai powers.

That was shown in the second battle they had where the Serpo used this ability and both Okarun and Aira Shiratori fell down to the floor as if they were dealing with higher levels of gravity. Moreover, it renders any kind of spiritual energy useless, so the people affected by it cannot use their powers in any shape or form, as shown in the fight.

It is also worth pointing out that the more Serpoians are involved in this ability, the stronger it is. There is also a chance that this alien race might be coming up with a strategy to improve Awesome Zone because it has some considerable flaws that proved to be their downfall in this second battle.

A big issue with the Awesome Zone in Dandadan is that the users cannot access it, meaning that they can only keep the target from moving and cannot attack them. This is why the Serpo chose to hire Chiquitita’s father so they could have someone who could do some damage to Okarun and Momo Ayase, as evidenced by their fight.

Another thing worth pointing out is how this ability can be intercepted by people who have psychokinetic powers as well, which is what Momo Ayase did to help the protagonist and Aira Shiratori. There is also the fact that the more people they have to subdue, the harder it is to do so, which means that they may need more help in those cases.

The full scale of this ability is yet to be shown in the series and has only been used against the main cast earlier in the story, for the most part. As mentioned earlier, this race has shown the ability to adapt to a lot of circumstances and come up with new plans and strategies, which is something that could happen here as they develop a version of Awesome Zone that could allow them to move within that area.
