Jujutsu No Kaisen has been the talk of the town in the anime community and that is because it is a fan project to alter and, in their words, hopefully improve the ending of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. The first chapter of this project was released this week and has already generated a lot of strong reactions from the fanbase, with many of them not being positive.
The goal of Jujutsu No Kaisen, according to the people in charge of the project, is to provide fans with a more satisfying conclusion to what author Gege Akutami delivered in the official manga. This, in return, also presents interesting questions about what went wrong with Jujutsu Kaisen and how fans' attempts to fix these issues can be quite divisive.

Explaining what is Jujutsu No Kaisen and its role in the Jujutsu Kaisen ending
As mentioned earlier, Jujutsu No Kaisen is a fanmade manga series that focuses on improving the final portion of the Jujutsu Kaisen story. A lot of fans were not happy with the conclusion of the story, claiming that Satoru Gojo's death wasn't executed well, that a lot of characters were wasted, and that multiple plot points were underdeveloped or directly abandoned.
Therefore, a group of fans decided to make a manga to fix the issues they claimed author Gege Akutami failed to deal with in the source material. This isn't anything new in the anime and manga community since fans of series such as Attack on Titan and Konosuba have also done similar projects.
This manga, in particular, has already released its first chapter and starts from the moment that Satoru Gojo was defeated by Ryomen Sukuna, with the former talking in the afterlife with Suguru Geto. There are also pages featuring the following battle between the King of Curses and Hajime Kashimo, although the reception has not been positive with this chapter.
The issues with this project
While only the first chapter of Jujutsu No Kaisen has been published, there are already a lot of critics aimed at this project. Fanmade series has been a part of the anime and manga community for a long time, but there is a general feeling in the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom that this project doesn't improve the original ending.
Some of the criticism regarding Jujutsu No Kaisen involves mischaracterization of the likes of Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo, giving Sukuna a new ability when most fans already felt he was strengthened too much by Akutami, and the dialogue lacking substance and the style of Jujutsu Kaisen. Moreover, there were also claims that the art was made with artificial intelligence, although this hasn't been confirmed thus far.
Jujutsu No Kaisen was also perceived by some fans as disrespectful since this project came out after Akutami's comments in the final volume of the manga, stating that he went through severe mental health issues while making this series. While a fan manga is not an insult to an author, the concept might have lent itself to that.
Final thoughts
Jujutsu No Kaisen is perhaps one of the most controversial news in the Jujutsu Kaisen community in recent weeks, and has divided a lot of people's opinions. However, fans are free to have their own perspective and a fan project is not going to change the official ending of the story.
