One of the most popular supporting characters in One Piece is Capone “Gang” Bege, first introduced as a Worst Generation member in the Sabaody Archipelago Arc. Bege then made a further impact during the Whole Cake Island Arc, in which he was a central figure and was given significant time to shine as a character.
This included showing off his Shiro Shiro no Mi Devil Fruit powers, also known as the Castle-Castle Fruit in the anime and manga’s English versions. However, neither arc spends a significant amount of time explaining the intricacies of Gege’s ability, resulting in many fans being left asking “What is the power of the Shiro Shiro no Mi in One Piece?”
Shiro Shiro no Mi’s powers and abilities, explained
The Shiro Shiro no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit in One Piece which turns the user into a Castle Human, with the current user being Capone “Gang” Bege. The Fruit’s main power and strength is allowing the user to become a living castle or a fortress in other words. Likewise, the user’s body holds many openings to the fortress within, and can even hold living people inside of their body via the Fruit shrinking these persons.
Along with any objects inside Bege’s body, these people will return to their normal size once getting a certain distance away from Bege’s body. This is highlighted by an aura around his body which seems to be roughly half a meter (or about 19 inches) away. This effect is nullified when Bege grows to become the size of a real-life castle. Bege can also manifest a miniature version of himself in the castle to communicate with those inside.
Bege also has complete control of the castle’s layout of rooms and openings that appear on his body. This allows him to deploy these defenses circularly and eliminate all blindspots, as previously seen in One Piece. The castle features also won’t materialize on the user’s external body unless they will them to. This provides multiple benefits, including sneak attacks, keeping any secrets safe and out of view, and more.
Shiro Shiro no Mi’s weaknesses in One Piece
While that answers the question of “what is the power of the Shiro Shiro no Mi,” these strengths also have weaknesses with them. One of the most glaring is that the Fruit has no offensive abilities that affect anyone outside of the user, including enemies. This somewhat forces the user to amass a large group of allies to be present in the castle and bring out its full potential, as Bege smartly does.
One Piece has also highlighted the Fruit’s weakness in terms of harmful gaseous substances. The user’s castle insides would be filled with any such substance the user inhaled, harming anyone within likewise. Bege also has no control over those exiting his body, meaning prisoners must be constantly monitored. The fortress has also been shown able to take damage internally and externally, but how the former affects the user hasn’t been shown.
The latter is directly proportional in terms of transferring damage to the user’s body. Likewise, if the full fortress transformation is destroyed, this would kill the user. Beyond this and standard Devil Fruit weaknesses, the only other major weaknesses are environmental hazards and limited ammo.
In summation
The answer to the question of “what is the power of the Shiro Shiro no Mi” is a multifaceted one given what the Fruit can do. Generally speaking, the Shiro Shiro no Mi turns its user into a living fortress that people and objects can enter and exit. The user can also transform themselves into a giant living fortress. However, there are some major weaknesses to the Fruit, such as a reliance on allies and more.
