Among Chainsaw Man's roster of bizarre characters, Qunaxi stands as one whom fans are most excited to see brought to life in the anime. Ever since she was first introduced, she had the fandom gushing over her calm, stoic, and badass demeanor. But she was more than just a pretty face.
Quanxi stood as ruthlessly pragmatic in battle, preferring to toss her enemies outside the battlefield in order to efficiently trim down their numbers and remove distractions. She was famously called "The First Devil Hunter," and her skills are a testament.
She was also a Hybrid, having merged with the Bow Devil, which gives her the ability to transform into her Hybrid form. That further complemented her skillset and made her a fearsome opponent to nearly anyone.
What is Quanxi's power in Chainsaw Man?
As mentioned, Quanxi is a Hybrid in the Chainsaw Man series. She merged with the Bow Devil, which gave her access to new powers that enhanced her already impressive skillset. Her power is her Hybrid Transformation that she activates by pulling an arrow out of her right eye socket.
In her transformed Hybrid state, Quanxi's teeth and head sharpen, transforming into hardened arrows with wide, curved horns resembling the shape of a bow on the side of her head.
Arrowheads emerge from and stick out of her neck. Glove-like formations cover her forearms, which grow sharpened, bow-shaped attachments.
Quanxi's abilities as the Bow Hybrid
Prior to glimpsing her Bow Hybrid abilities, it is worth mentioning that Quanxi was in peak physical condition. The title of "First Devil Hunter" wasn't bestowed upon her without reason, and her physical prowess is first to back it up. She possesses strength "beyong human capability," superhuman speed, and lightning-fast reflexes, capable of dodging attacks rapidly and even stopping a moving knife.
In her Bow Hybrid Form, she is equipped with crossbows that shoot several arrows simultaneously at her targets. These arrows have been depicted to be quite powerful, capable of piercing whatever Quanxi shoots. Further, by consuming blood, she can regenerate at an alarming rate.
Moreover, her being a Hybrid makes her immortal and nearly unkillable. She looks considerably young despite being close to 50. In the event that she does in fact die, as long as the arrow in her eye socket is pulled, Quanxi can come back to life in top condition.
Hybrids and what they are, explained
Hybrids, or Devil-Humans in Chainsaw Man, are humans who have merged with and can take on the form of a Devil. The real name for the concept of Hybrids was erased by the Chainsaw Devil (by consuming them), but Hybrids continue to exist despite this for unknown reasons. Humans fusing with Devils and transforming into Hyrbids is rare, which makes Denji, Reze, Quanxi, etc. unique.
As per the lore, one can become a Hybrid via a contract or surgery, where the Devil replaces the human's heart. Thus, the Hybrid's heart becomes both their strength and weakness. Hybrids keep their human consciousness and appearance but are able to transform through a trigger and manifest the abilities of their fused Devils.
As seen, transformation affects mainly the head and arms, with the rest of the body usually remaining as is. Their appearance and abilities vary from weapon to weapon. Not transformed, they are indistinguishable from regular humans, save for their triggers, which are normally hidden. Importantly, although the human might be in full control, the Devil inside can take over if the contract is breached.
