The debut of Igris in Solo Leveling season 2 had the fans in awe given how the shadow soldier was as strong as a high-level hunter. Not only did the shadow soldier take care of a humungous ice bear with ease, but his loyalty toward the protagonist afterward showcased his trust in his king. However, what rank does Igris belong to in Jinwoo's shadow soldier army?

Currently, in season 2, Igris' rank is 'Knight.' However, shadow soldiers can request an upgrade after reaching a certain level. So, Igris will do the same in the future and his rank will be upgraded to 'Elite Knight,' accompanied by a little change in his appearance. Moreover, after the protagonist became the true 'Shadow Monarch,' Igris was promoted to the rank of 'Marshall.'

Igris in Solo Leveling season 2 and his rank as a shadow soldier

After giving Han Songyi and two other guild members warm jackets, Solo Leveling season 2 saw Jinwoo venture into the woods to take care of any possible calamities. Incidentally, he was soon confronted by Ice Bears. So, without sparing a second, the protagonist summoned his shadow soldiers and commanded them to attack the threat.

Even though their performance was amazing, every shadow soldier was annihilated by the Ice Bear's boss. So, Igris, standing beside his King, was commanded to attack the boss.

Igris overpowered the Ice Bear boss in Solo Leveling season 2 and killed it without breaking a sweat. Afterward, he kneeled before the protagonist, surprising Jinwoo and making the protagonist think that he might be weaker than his shadow soldier.

Igris, formerly known as the Blood-Red Commander, was the boss of the mysterious dungeon where the System summoned Jinwoo in season 1. Igris was guarding an empty throne. Following a heated battle, the commander lost and was reborn as Jinwoo's first 'Knight' shadow soldier, Igris.

The 'Knight' rank is the fourth overall rank in a shadow army and the fact that Igris was straight reborn as this rank showcased his overpowered potential. Moreover, his flawless battle against the Ice Bear boss in Solo Leveling season 2 proved that he was the strongest soldier in Jinwoo's arsenal.

Igris: The promotion of ranks

The anime is currently adapting the Red Gate arc where Igris has the 'Knight' rank. However, this will change in the future (and quite possibly in the Winter 2025 sequel). In the Return to Demon Castle Arc, two of Jinwoo's shadows requested a promotion, Igris and Tusk (shadow soldier born from Kargalgan).

When shadows reach a certain level, they can opt to request an upgrade with the permission of their King (Jinwoo). After Jinwoo allowed the system to promote his two shadows, the shadow soldiers evolved into their new forms. Tusk, formerly an 'Elite' was promoted to 'Knight' (the same rank as Igris). Igris, on the other hand, was promoted to 'Elite Knight' (one grade higher than his previous one).

Moreover, Igris again reached his last level of promotion during the Monarch War arc. While Jinwoo (who returned to the battlefield as the new Shadow Monarch) and his father were engaged in a heated battle against the Frost Monarch, they were eventually overpowered.

However, out of nowhere, Igris jumped out of the sky onto the battlefield, mocking the Frost Monarch. As Jinwoo was now the true Shadow Monarch, Igris regained his true rank and was promoted to the 'Marshall' rank. In this form, Igris' body was massive and his aura was enough to frighten the Frost Monarch.
