Naruto fans frequently wonder about Shisui Uchiha's significance, given the hype surrounding his character despite limited appearances in the manga and anime. Although Shisui didn't get much screen time, several characters, including Itachi, have emphasized his kind spirit and virtues as a shinobi.

Shisui was widely regarded during his lifetime as one of the most powerful Uchiha to ever live in the Naruto series, which Danzo himself stated. Furthermore, his physical prowess made him rise through the shinobi ranks with ease, and was holder one of the strongest Mangekyo Sharingan, giving him a lot more free reign when casting genjutsu and also allowing him to use Kotoamatsukami with both of his eyes, which is a rarity.

Shisui Uchiha was considered special since he was one of the few in his clan to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan and did so while being very young, highlighting how much of a prodigy he was. One of the key abilities of his Mangekyo Sharingan was the ability to execute genjutsu without having to cast his eye on his targets, giving him a lot more free reign when fighting.

It also gave him access to the Kotoamatsukami with both of his eyes, which is one of the strongest genjutsu in the entire series. This ability allows the user to manipulate the mind of his target within a certain range, making said person believe they are experiencing something that isn't happening, making Shisui one of the most advanced genjutsu users in the franchise.

Moreover, it was also revealed that Shisui Uchiha had access to a Complete Susanoo, which is one of the strongest tools one can reach with a Mangekyō Sharingan. While there isn't a lot of information to gauge how strong his Susanoo was when compared to others in Naruto, there is no denying that having this ability is another major reason why Shisui was considered so special.

Another aspect to consider when questioning Shisui Uchiha's significance is his impressive skills as a ninja. He was a master of the Body Flicker Technique, earning him the nickname "Shisui of the Body Flicker," as he could disappear without being noticed by other shinobi.

In terms of ninjutsu, he controlled a group of crows and mastered three basic nature transformations: Fire, Lightning, and Wind, along with Yin Release. As a member of the Uchiha clan, he also possessed fire-based abilities, including the Great Fireball Technique, which only the top members of his clan could perform.

It is also worth mentioning that even Shisui's basic use of the Sharingan made him a force to be reckoned with, to the point that he could trap other users such as Danzo. In fact, the latter had to use the Izanagi technique to set himself free, which highlights the young Uchiha's natural talent.

Final thoughts

It is easy to ask what is so special about Shisui in Naruto because the character didn't have a lot of screen time and didn't display a lot of major feats. However, it is through other characters that readers have a greater understand of his abilities, not to mention the filler material added in the anime adaptation.
