Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7: Zenitsu's letter gave an update about his master - Jigoro Kuwajima

The letter that Zenitsu Agatsuma received in Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7 was written by Chuntaro, the sparrow that accompanies him and informs him about the various missions that have been assigned to him. The exact contents of the letter were not revealed until the fight against Kaigaku, the new Upper Moon 6 demon.

Kaigaku was his upperclassman in Jigoro's dojo. When Kokushibo outclassed him in a fight, Kaigaku had two choices - to die or to become a demon. He chose the latter, became a demon, and Zenitsu confronted him. It was at this point that the contents of the letter were revealed.

Since Kaigaku learned the Thunder Breathing Technique under Jigoro’s wings, the latter took his own life to atone for his sins. His teachings were now accessible to an Upper Moon demon that could potentially take lives.

The letter stated that Jigoro Kuwajima took his own life by committing Seppuku. This is an act of self-disembowelment with a Tanto or a small sword. One makes a cut to the abdomen and endures an excruciatingly painful death.

Usually, when someone commits Seppuku, a swordsman would cut the head of the person committing the act to give them a pain-free death. However, there was no one around when Jigoro took his own life. This meant that he suffered until the very last breath he took, and Kaigaku was responsible.

Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7 showcased Zenitsu’s anger and frustration after reading the letter, and this worried Tanjiro as well. However, the former not only confronted Kaigaku, but also fought while he was completely conscious.

The fight against the new Upper Moon 6 is one of the most entertaining fights in the series. This is because Zenitsu takes on an Upper Moon demon all by himself and even showcases a new form of Thunder Breathing that he created.

Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7 did a great job in showing Zenitsu’s irritation and frustration in the anime. Zenitsu was never a man of few words, and seeing him like this worried not only his comrades but viewers of the anime series as well.
