Yuyuko Takemiya and Eji Komatsu's light novel inspired an anime adaptation back in 2013. Under the production of J.C. Staff Studios, the Golden Time anime released 24 episodes, which were split into two cours.
The series was officially directed by Chiaki Kon with Fumihiko Shimo, who worked as the scriptwriter. The characters were designed by Shinya Hasegawa while Yukari Hashimoto handled the music composition.
