Who are the Nine Monarchs in Solo Leveling?

The Nine Monarchs are the main villains in the novel series Solo Leveling. They were made by the Absolute Being and the arch-enemies of the sovereign. These monarchs are long lived monsters in the series. They were made when the Absolute Being broke the light to create Rulers and Monarchs. The latter was meant to wreck the world while the Rulers protect it. This resulted in a raging between the two factions.

Antares

Antares was the monarch of destruction and the King of Dragons. He was a tall, muscular, and attractive middle-aged man with bright red eyes, a short red beard, long red hair, and dark crimson claws. Antares was one of the most powerful people in the universe. He possessed immense strength, speed and durability. His other forms of powers are:

Ashborn

Ashborn is the Monarch of Shadows and the King of the Dead. He is the only old Monarch alive (asleep) among the original monarchs. He was referred to as the Greatest Fragment of Brilliant Light and with an immeasurable strength he was the strongest Ruler. Few of his abilities are:

Baran

Baran was the Monarch of White Flames and the King of Demons. He possessed immense strength, speed and durability. His powers were:

Rakan was the Monarch of Fangs and the King of Beasts. He had great powers being the King of the Beasts. Rakan possessed immense strength, speed and durability. His special powers were:

Legia was the Monarch of the Beginning and the King of Giants. He was a powerful monarch with great strength. He could perform the Pledge of Trust and Spiritual Body Manifestation.

Querehsha

Querehsha was the Monarch of Plagues and the Queen of Insects. She was too powerful and had many great abilities. Her powers were:

Yogumunt

Yogumunt was the Monarch of Transfiguration and the King of Demonic Spectres. He was immensely strong and could perform Levitation and Spiritual Body Manifestation.

Sung Jinwoo

Sung Jinwoo is Ashborn's chosen successor and the second Shadow Monarch. He is the protagonist of the novel series and the most powerful hunter in the world. He possessed great speed, strength and durability along with striking warfare mastery. In addition, he has numerous abilities making him the strongest of all. His powers are:

Esil Radiru

Esil Radiru is Baran's successor, the Monarch of Gluttony, the second King of Demons. As the First Princess of the Radiru Clan, Esil Radiru is a Demon Noble. She took Baran's place as the Demon King and Monarch after ingesting the World Tree Leaves and acquiring the Darkness that gave birth to them. Being a Demon Noble, Esil possessed great strength and speed. Her special abilities are:

Monarchs’ History

After the Absolute Being was overthrown and killed, the Rulers tracked down the Monarchs using weapons that had remnants of their power. They captured the Monarch Legia alive, which turned the tide of the conflict in their favour and gave them a good chance of winning. When the Shadow Monarch Ashborn realised this, he contacted the other Monarchs and offered assistance. Reluctantly, the other Monarchs acknowledged him as their new ally because they had no other option.
