Black Clover fans often ask, "Who is Asta's mom?" because this character plays a major role in the protagonist's origin and how he came to be. Furthermore, his mother, Licita, has a reason to connect Asta with Liebe, the Devil in the Grimoire he uses for combat, and these three characters are connected in a very prominent manner.
It is also worth taking into account that Licita was a very peculiar character in the Black Clover universe because her magic was a hazard for people around her, making her decision to give Asta away all the more tragic. And also gives a lot more value to her relationship with Liebe, giving the latter a degree of humanity most creatures of his kind don't have.

Asta's parentage in Black Clover, explained
Fans of the series, especially the ones who are not up to date with the story, often ask "Who is Asta's mom?" because the protagonist starts the manga as an orphan in Hage's church. During the majority of the story, fans are not informed of Asta's parentage, although the truth is discovered in the events of the Dark Triad arc.
It was eventually revealed that Asta's mom is a lady named Licita, who happened to have a magic that allowed her to drain other people's lifeforce and mana when they were close to her. She had to give her son away because of it, much to her regret and sadness, and Asta's dad has not been confirmed or shown in the story, as of this writing.
Licita's origins and death
Licita was a woman who lived on the outskirts because of the lifeforce-draining abilities that she couldn't control and found Licht's five-leaf clover grimoire, which resulted in Liebe, a demon, stepping into the living world. They became friends and Licita was actually the one who gave him a name, forming a sort of mother-son relationship in the process.
Since Liebe is a demon, Licita's abilities do not affect him, they manage to coexist without a problem. However, Lucifero manages to take control of a part of Liebe's body as a way to punish him for escaping to the world of the living, although the most affected would end up being Asta's mom.
Licita decided to absorb Liebe's power to weaken Lucifero, but the latter took over one of the demon's arms and killed the woman in the process. Before dying, Licita put Liebe into the five-leaf clover grimoire so he could escape from Lucifero, although they would eventually meet again during the Dark Triad arc.
Licita's role in the story
One of the most obvious examples of Licita's importance in Black Clover is that she birthed the protagonist, Asta, and the fact she gave her away to Hage's church. This allowed Asta to grow up with Sister Lily and Yuno, who were huge motivations for his development and the goal of becoming the Wizard King.
Furthermore, she was instrumental in giving Liebe a sense of humanity and allowing him to form connections with others. This allowed Asta to connect with the demon since they met through the grimoire and formed a combination that pushed them to punch above their weight, as shown in recent arcs, particularly against the Dark Triad.
