The Chainsaw Man manga has introduced numerous characters that have served as antagonists throughout the story. While Fujimoto has disposed of many villains as quickly as they are revealed, none of them have come close to the screen time of Makima, with the exception of Barem.
Barem is the Flamethrower Devil Hybrid who made his debut in Part 1 of the manga but rose to relevancy and popularity due to his more active role in Part 2. Barem was an unremarkable side character in Part 1 of the manga, but his real and rather malicious personality, revealed in Part 2, has managed to increase the disturbing nature of his character.

Who is Barem Bridge?
Barem Bridge was originally a side character revealed as one of the Devil Hybrids towards the final stretch of Chainsaw Man manga Part 1. While his earlier iteration was completely brainwashed and domesticated by Makima, he still showed signs of his manic and psychopathic tendencies during his fight against the Hero of Hell in Part 1.
There is no information currently known about Barem Bridge's personal life other than the fact that he is devoted to Makima and her cause even without her directly controlling him. Barem Bridge was later reintroduced in the Chainsaw Man church arc as an antagonist and has continued to tail as the Flamethrower devil hybrid and bring misfortune to Denji till now.
Barem's role in Chainsaw Man
Barem initially had the role of an unremarkable side character who was simply acting as Makima's puppet after being brainwashed. However, Part 2 saw Barem taking a more active role in trying to ruin Denji's life and bring out the Hero of Hell.
Although many fans might think Barem is simply a supporting antagonist while the Death Devil is the main antagonist of Part 2, Barem is more akin to the main acting antagonist due to his actions and involvement in the story.
Barem has actively taken steps to ruin Denji's life and peace, including the elimination of Nayuta and the burning of his house along with his pets. Barem also directly displayed Nayuta's head in front of Denji, which eventually caused him to lose control and unleash the Hero of Hell.
Barem has also been established as someone who is completely loyal to Makima and her cause, even after being released from her control. Barem himself has mentioned his faith in Makima and how she could have solved the Death Devil crisis herself.
Although Barem was recently "killed" by the Hero of Hell in Chainsaw Man Chapter 171 of the manga, he may reappear in later chapters since Barem has previously recovered from fatal injuries easily.
Barem's powers and abilities
Barem is one of the original Devil Hybrids alongside Quanxi, Reze, and Katana Man who fought the Hero of Hell in Part 1 of the manga and showed remarkable firepower, partly due to being the literal Flamethrower Devil Hybrid. Barem does not have many remarkable powers other than very high destructive capabilities while being a cold and calculated individual with a knack for cruelty.
Barem's expertise lies in his schemes and his brutal methods of pursuing his goals, which further shows that he is one of the weaker Devil Hybrids behind the likes of Quanxi and Reze and arguably, Katana Man. Being a Devil Hybrid gives him heightened durability, strength, regeneration, and near-perfect immortality due to his transformation.
