Who is Ryuk in Death Note?

Ryuk is a shinigami who dropped his Death Note in the human world to have some fun. He is one of the main characters in the anime/manga series Death Note.

Ryuk played one of the most important roles in the Death Note series by staying by the side of Light Yagami, the protagonist. Ryuk finds Light a fascinating person because he is pretty intelligent and wants to be a god.

The manga artist of the series, Obata, first wanted to draw Ryuk as a normal young man with black hair and wings, but that did not justify his shinigami character, which is why he changed it to look like a reptile wearing a black outfit, 7”6 feet tall with red eyes and black wings. He loved to eat apples, which is another reason for him to stay in the human world, and when he did not get apples, his body started to twist, which was a withdrawal symptom just like with anyone with an addiction.

What Abilities does Ryuk have in Death Note?

Ryuk is an immortal shinigami who can write the name of any human that causes them to die. He can’t be killed by any human weapon or poison, which makes him invincible. He can fly around and has shinigami eyes, which can see any person's lifespan, age, and name, making it easier for him to write that person's name on his Death Note.

Ryuk can also see someone from very far away, and no one can see him unless they touch his Death Note. He can go through any substance without being affected by it, like walls, cars, and people.
