Vinland Saga is a historical fiction manga that is set in the early medieval era when kings and Vikings used to raid different countries to rule over them. The story focuses on a young Viking, Thorfinn, who seeks revenge against someone. Still, later, due to some exciting twist, his life journey changes, and so many unexpected things happen to him, making the story one of the best in the anime world.

Makoto Yukimura’s background and early days life
Makoto born on May 8, 1976 in Yokohama, Kanagawa Predecture, Japan. He used to be a very laid-back child who was not involved in any sports or studies much, but at the age of five, when he saw Akira Toriyama’s Dr. Slump, he felt happy, and from there, he became attached to comics and manga.
While he was a teenager, he had two serious accidents but he survived them and did not lose his passion for becoming a manga artist after graduating from high school, Suginami High School and Chuo University. He started working as an assistant for Dai Morimura, who taught him about drawing manga. Kaiji Kawaguchi helped him become an author by teaching him about what a manga artist is.
Yukimura is a married man and has two young boys, but other information about his family is unknown.

The first manga Yukimura wrote was The Planetes, which is based on the science fiction genre. The story revolves around a crew of the Toy Box that is tasked with cleaning the debris in space, which is challenging. Many events happened in that story, which was later adapted into an anime series with the same name that consisted of 26 episodes from October 4, 2003, to April 17, 2004.
On April 13, 2005, he released his most famous manga, Vinland Saga, which now has 28 volumes and has already been adapted into an anime that consists of two seasons.
In 2009, Yukimura won the Japan Media Arts Festival award for Vinland Saga in the manga category.
Yukimura is also a fan of Hajime Isayama's work and loved Attack on Titan. He also loves My Dress-up Darling. He also published a one-shot manga called For Our Farewell is Near.
