While there are many beloved aspects of mangaka Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover manga, one of the most so is the series’ varied humor that shines in many unique ways. One particular example is the series’ humor centered on romantic endeavors, such as with Yami Sukehiro and Charlotte Roselei and Asta and various women in the series.
One such woman is Mimosa Vermillion, whom Asta is very close with. However, some fans often ask “who is Mimosa’ love interest” due to the relationship she has with not just Asta, but others in the series as well. Mimosa Vermillion’s love interest in Black Clover is indeed Asta, but she’s unlucky in love when it comes to the young Magic Knight for a few key reasons.
Asta and Mimosa’s relationship, explained
As mentioned above, Black Clover protagonist Asta is Mimosa’s love interest in the series, with this being made overtly obvious throughout the story so far. The two first met when the Black Bulls and Golden Dawn were tasked with exploring a dungeon together. After they were attacked by Mars and other Diamond Kingdom Magic Knights, Asta saved Mimosa from danger.
This was the start of her romantic feelings for him, later elaborating to Noelle Silva that she likes Asta because of his determination, body, and personality. While the commentary on his physical appearance may seem shallow, Mimosa’s love for Asta is clearly deep and genuine. This genuinity shines through in her actions, which see her constantly trying to get stronger to stand by Asta and use him as his motivation.
Meanwhile, Asta clearly values Mimosa as a friend and strongly respects her despite the awkwardness her noble status may have caused. This is evident via the fact that he addresses and treats her the way he would anyone else, acting casually despite her titles. This is also part of Mimosa’s attraction to him considering her royal upbringing.
Black Clover also makes it clear that Asa respects Mimosa as a Magic Knight and feels her to be very strong in her own right. He’s shown to specifically compliment and laud her abilities across the many times they’ve fought together. However, he’s also more than willing to lend a hand and save her when things get dangerous, which can also be seen in the many battles they’ve fought together.
The competition for Asta’s heart in Black Clover
Despite the answer to the question of “who is Mimosa’s love interest” being quite simple, providing the proper context to the current state of her romantic life isn’t. For starters, Asta is in love with Lily Aquaria and isn’t at a point where he’s ready to move past his childhood crush yet. This has likewise left him oblivious to the love that not only Mimosa has for him but also other characters.
The first is Rebecca Scarlet, whom Asta went on a date with as a part of the Black Bulls’ series of blind dates as a squad. While Rebecca is disinterested at first, they begin bonding over being older siblings before Asta defends her from a drunk bar patron. This is where Rebecca begins developing romantic feelings for Asta, trying to get closer to him afterward.
Even Mimosa’s own family members are pursuing the protagonist for themselves, as is the case with her cousin, Noelle Silva. Noelle is also arguably Asta’s main love interest given that she was introduced to him and the series overall first and is also his Black Bull squadmate. There are specific moments where Noelle’s love deepens dramatically, but she’s generally always had feelings for him, which slowly but significantly developed over time.
In summation
The answer to the question of “who is Mimosa’s love interest in Black Clover” is none other than the protagonist of Tabata’s manga, Asta. However, Mimosa has stiff competition on multiple fronts. While Asta is in love with Lily Aquaria as it currently stands, Mimosa also has to compete with the likes of Noelle and Rebecca for Asta’s heart should it ever become available again.
