Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11 has caused a massive buzz online following its release. The episode showcases Will Serfort awakening his actual potential to combine the Wand and the Sword to create a spell called Ignis Wis. With that spell, Will defeats the Evil Grand Duke and saves his friends from certain death.
However, it wouldn't have been possible without Will recalling two core memories from his past. One involves a flashback with Elfaria Albis Serfort, and another sees two mysterious figures with a baby. In the second flashback, a hooded young man is seen conversing with a woman in a dark veil, cradling an infant baby.
The woman hopes the Wand and the Sword will come together one day. So, who are these mysterious figures from the flashback in Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11? According to the manga, the woman is none other than Mercedes, the Mage Queen, and the young man is Finn, a member of the Finn Tribe and a Dungeon Guide. Interestingly, these two characters are inextricably linked with Will Serfort.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11: Exploring the mysterious figures' identities and how they are connected to Will Serfort
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11 reveals the two most crucial characters in the series through a flashback. While holding onto Elfaria's ice crystal dropped by Rosty, Will Serfort recalls a memory from an unspecified time. A young man dressed in a hooded robe asks a woman in a dark veil whether she is sure about her decision.
While cradling a baby on her lap, the lady reprimands the man for asking the same question since she has made her choice for the world's sake. She entrusts the world's future to the baby, hoping the wand and the sword will eventually come together one day.
As per Fujino Omori's manga, the lady and the young man, seen in Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11 are Mercedes and Finn, respectively. While not much is known about Mercedes, she's renowned as the Mage Queen who established the Magia Vander roughly 500 years ago to extinguish the darkness that prevailed in the world.
On the other hand, the manga reveals Finn as a member of the Finn tribe. He's also a dungeon guide, who once accompanied Masterias Noah Oldking on his dungeon expedition. Although he calls himself a seven-year-old, his actual age could be more than 500. Interestingly, his real name is Invess, but he prefers to be called Finn.
Both Mercedes and Finn share an interesting relationship with Will Serfort. While Mercedes' motives are obscure, she's definitely connected to Will Serfort, considering she appeared inside the boy's consciousness in Chapter 45 Part 1.
When Shade, one of the evil mages from the Gohtia, entered Will Serfort's mind to control him in this chapter, she witnessed a lady seated on a throne, telling her to begone from the boy's mind. It's the same lady who appears in Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11.
Several theories have been circulating in the fandom regarding Mercedes' connection with Will, one of them is her being Will's mother. The latest flashback in Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11 heavily suggests Mercedes as Will Serfort's mother, since Will recalls the scene from his consciousness.
The Magic Queen probably knew that evil would eventually engulf the world in the future again, and only a being who harbors the powers of both wand and the sword can extinguish that darkness. Perhaps that's why she chose her son and entrusted him to Finn, who serves non-magic users.
However, there are some discrepancies in the theory due to the timelines. According to Chapter 29, Finn's promise to Mercedes (the flashback we see in Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11) was made 500 years ago. As such, it's strange for Will to be only 16 years old, if the infant is truly Will.
Yet, the flashback in Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 11 is linked to Will Serfort's memories, which suggests the baby is him. Moreover, Finn knows about Will. So, there's the possibility that Finn must have time-traveled into the future and placed Will in the orphanage, where the boy met Elfaria Albis Serfort.
That said, there's no concrete evidence to support this theory yet. Yet, that's the only plausible explanation for the discrepancies. In any case, Finn almost acts like a detached mentor to Will in the manga, trying to awaken his actual potential and fulfill his contract with Mercedes.
More information about Will Serfirt's origin and his connection with Finn and Mercedes will be revealed only when the author, Fujino Omori, decides to.
