NaNaNa Najahkoop has become a hot topic of discussion following the release of the latest Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War episode, titled Against the Judgement. The Sternritter "U" demonstrated his Schrift, Underbelly, to immobilize Sosuke, a feat that no one had ever managed to accomplish.
Although NaNaNa's appearance was cut short by Bazz-B, who shot him in the same episode, he already made a huge impact with his incredible feat against Aizen. So, who's NaNaNa in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War? According to the manga, NaNaNa is one of the Sternritters of the Wandereich, with the designation U: Underbelly.
Exploring NaNaNa Najahkoop in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War
In the narrative of Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War arc, NaNaNa Najahkoop doesn't appear too much and is considered a side character. Yet, the Quincy made a huge impact in the series, with a unique feat against the King of Reiatsu, Sosuke Aizen, whom he subjugated for five minutes using his Schrift, Underbelly.
From the onset, NaNaNa's appearance may strike the audience as unique, with his teeth resembling the keys of a piano, and his long black hair arranged in spiraling spikes. Interestingly, his eyes and the upper facial features are covered with a reddish mask.
NaNaNa marks his entry to the narrative during the first invasion, where he followed the orders of Yhwach and engaged in battle against several Soul Reapers. Later, when Yamamoto Genryusai entered the field, NaNaNa, Bazz-B, and Yhwach tried to ambush him, only to be engulfed by the former Captain Commander's flames.
However, that attack didn't kill NaNaNa, as we saw him next in the second invasion, where he activated his Quincy: Vollstandig with other Sternritters around him. That said, NaNaNa never got the chance to showcase his powers until he faced Sosuke Aizen in the Seireitei.
The Sternritter U bid his time and analyzed Aizen's Spiritual Pressure to hit its virtual points, thereby subjugating the Soul Reaper. NaNaNa wanted to do the same to Shunsui and other Soul Reapers to stop them from interfering with Yhwach's plans. However, Bazz-B used his Burner Finger to stop the Sternritter.
Powers and abilities of NaNaNa Najahkoop in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War
As one of Wandenreich's Sternritters, NaNaNa Najahkoop received the letter "U" from Yhwach. With his Schrift U: Underbelly, NaNaNa can analyze his foe's Spiritual Pressure over a certain period and determine its distribution. After that, NaNaNa can imprint his letter onto his foe and use it to form a grid pattern, known as the Morphine Pattern.
Doing so allows NaNaNa Najahkoop to locate holes in his enemy's Spiritual Pressure. Once the Sternritter pinpoints those holes, he can increase them to deplete his target's Spiritual Pressure, rendering them unconscious in the process. Although it's a unique ability, it can't work well if NaNaNa gets less time to analyze his opponent.
Notably, NaNaNa Najahkoop's Underbelly worked well against Aizen, as the attack left the Soul Reaper unconscious for five minutes. After regaining consciousness, Aizen commended the Sternritter's efforts, since nobody had ever immobilized him for such a long time.
Besides his Schirft, NaNaNa Najahkoop has standard Quincy abilities in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War. For example, he can manipulate and absorb Reishi and use them to attack his enemies. Moreover, as a Sternritter, he possesses Captain-level Spiritual Pressure.
NaNaNa has also shown his Quincy: Vollstandig form in the anime, which endows him with a pair of looped ring-shaped wings, with three spikes above. He can use his wings to fly at a fast pace. Besides Vollstandig, NaNaNa has Heilig Bogen, a standard Quincy weapon.
Does NaNaNa Najahkoop die in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War?
No, NaNaNa Najahkoop doesn't die in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War. Although he was pierced by Bazz-B's Burner Finger one, the Sternritter survived the attack.
According to Ryogo Narita's Can't Fear Your Own World light novel series, which narrates the events after the Thousand-year Blood War arc, NaNaNa survived along with Candice and Meninas. However, the Gotei 13's 12th Division captured them, and consequently, they were turned into Mayuri Kurotsuchi's test subjects.
Conclusion
Without a doubt, NaNaNa's appearance in the latest Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War episode has created a buzz online. The Sternritter's unique power has also generated discussion since it trapped Sosuke Aizen, arguably one of the strongest Soul Reapers. Even though NaNaNa had less screen time, he made the most of it with his presence.
