With the hugely popular season 2 of the Tower of God anime currently airing, many viewers are increasingly curious about the “King of the Tower” known as Zahard. He is shrouded in mystery and spoken of with reverence, fear, or hatred across the series’s storylines.

This prompts the question as to who exactly is this supreme ruler Zahard in the series. Tower of God is a popular anime and manhwa written and illustrated by SIU. It follows the journey of Twenty-Fifth Bam as he ascends the mysterious Tower to reunite with his friend Rachel.

Throughout his climb, Bam encounters several powerful and influential figures, with Zahard being one of the most prominent. Let's uncover more about this enigmatic character!

Zahard's rise to power and his empire in the Tower Of God

Zahard, also spelled as Jahad, is the Supreme Ruler and King of the Tower in the Tower Of God series. His entry into the Tower was unprecedented. Thousands of years ago, born outside the Tower, he entered the Tower by opening its doors himself, earning the title of Irregular.

Zahard and his 12 Great Warrior companions explored the mysteries of each Floor, bravely facing challenges that no one before them had overcome. Their success in climbing the Tower was unmatched, and they were revered as god-like figures by the Tower's inhabitants.

During their ascent, Zahard and his companions used their influence and power to conquer Floor after Floor. They defeated all opposition, absorbed or eliminated families and empires, and expanded their control. This led to the formation of the Zahard Empire, which has ruled the Tower for millennia.

The Zahard Empire is backed by contracts bestowing eternal youth and immortality, ensuring Zahard’s sovereignty remains absolute. Many prominent families, including the Koon and Ha families, pledged allegiance to Zahard, and the 10 Great Families emerged as the main power brokers within the Tower.

Zahard's power, authority, and legacy

Zahard’s immense power and influence make him a god-like figure within the Tower Of God universe. He resides on the 134th Floor, the highest Floor currently under his control. Despite living in seclusion, Zahard maintains full authority over his empire through Imperial Decrees that govern the Tower's policies and laws.

As an Irregular, Zahard possesses incredible Shinsu abilities, which he uses to maintain his dominance. His Shinsu is golden-yellow in color and manifests in sharp, powerful forms. He is also immortal, having made several contracts to ensure his eternal rule.

Within the Tower's rankings, Zahard was once the No. 1 Ranker for several millennia. However, the appearance of two ultra-powerful Irregulars, Phantaminum, and Enryu, caused shifts in the rankings, and Zahard now holds the 3rd place. Despite this, he remains the most influential ruler of the Tower.

Zahard’s administration is carried out through two key systems. The first is the Princess system, where over 100 women are chosen to carry royal bloodlines and are blessed with some of Zahard's powers. These Princesses represent Zahard's authority and enforce his will throughout the Tower.

The second system is the Ruling Council, consisting of Lords, Chief Administrators, Army Commanders, and Squadron Captains who manage the day-to-day affairs of the Empire. Evankhell, a powerful High Ranker, once led operations on the Second Floor.

Conclusion

Zahard is the central figure around which the Tower of God's entire lore and narrative revolves. His past actions, current authority, and the systems he has established continue to shape the Tower's political and social landscape.

As one of the first pioneers to set foot in the Tower, Zahard remains a larger-than-life figure, attracting awe, devotion, intrigue, and hatred across millennia.

With the activities of Princess Yuri and the emergence of Bam, turbulent times may lie ahead for Zahard's reign. How SIU develops this iconic villainous character will be pivotal to the future of Tower of God.
