Why does Amado betray Jigen in Boruto? Explained

In Boruto, Amado aligned himself with Jigen initially with the hope of resurrecting his deceased daughter. However, as time passed, his perspective evolved. He came to view the eradication of the Ōtsutsuki clan as crucial.

He was an important part of Jigen’s Kara group and was famous for having a detailed understanding of their technology and plans. His betrayal is not just a simple surprise for the story; it deals with his character's complexities and the wider ideas about faithfulness and selflessness.

Why Amado betrayed Jigen, explained

When Amado understands that Jigen's intention could erase the entire world and he will not revive his daughter Akebi, Amado turns against him. Jigen aims to find a strong vessel for bringing back Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, an ancient and extremely powerful being. His goal is to make Kawaki into this vessel. He desires that by using him, he can fulfill the Ōtsutsuki Clan's plan of collecting chakra from all over the world to attain ultimate strength and life span.

Amado understood that it would be pointless to revive his daughter if Jigen achieved his goal and there was no planet for her to live on. This led him to think about a broader goal - eliminating the entire Ōtsutsuki group. He saw this as important, to safeguard the planet and create an upcoming moment where his daughter might possibly exist once more.

Amado made multiple attempts to bring back Akebi, but those were not successful and he finally collapsed. He understood that his daughter had vanished forever. At this moment, Jigen came to Amado and offered a deal: if Amado helped him with his plans, Jigen would revive the life of Amado's daughter; Amado agreed right away.

Amado's skills in technology are advanced as he has managed to go beyond what the official Scientific Ninja Weapons Team allows. His creations include a range of unique and strong gadgets. Also, sometimes he improves existing tools to make them work better.

Kara's main strength is its technological advantage, greatly boosted by Amado's inventive ideas. Therefore, the alliance of Amado and Jigen is a complex mix of collaboration and rivalry. They cooperate to attain similar goals, yet their personal motivations sometimes conflict with one another.

Another reason for his betrayal is that he no longer trusts what Jigen says. Teaming up with Koji, Amado aims to eliminate Jigen.
