The starting showdown of Boruto Two Blue Vortex between the protagonist and Code was one of the most unique and strangest ones due to the absurd amount of dialogue in it. Even though the fight was decided over a single jutsu technique from the protagonist, the fight continued for 3 whole chapters and was mostly comprised of conversation rather than the exchange of blows.

The reason behind this was revealed in chapter 12 of the series where the protagonist asked for some time to reload or recharge his Rasengan Uzuhiko against Hidari, the same move he used against Code. This was the reason why the protagonist's fight against Code was so long because the former, willingly, kept Code busy talking so that he could reload his ultimate ability.

Boruto Two Blue Vortex: Why did the protagonist prolong his conversation with Code?

Boruto Two Blue Vortex commenced with Code raiding the Hidden Leaf Village looking for the protagonist who had his identity exchanged with Kawaki through Omnipotence. To lure the protagonist out, he tried to hurt Sarada, but the protagonist popped out of nowhere before Code could do anything.

After getting away from Sarada, instead of immediately attacking Code, the protagonist engages him in a conversation about how he could defeat him in a single move. The protagonist even gives him a chance to turn back before he gets serious.

Code, being the classic antagonist, ignored all his warnings and kept attacking him and the protagonist kept evading his blows until he pulled out a move titled Rasengan Uzuhiko. This move utilized the rotation of Earth and gave the protagonist its energy.

The protagonist delivered this blow to Code which rendered him useless on the battlefield. However, the strangest thing about this showdown was how long the protagonist, willingly, prolonged it. Was this because he felt pity for Code?

The reason was entirely different and it was revealed in chapter 12 of the series. After saving Sarada and getting cornered by Hidari and Jura, the protagonist tries his best to make the God Trees leave without any over-the-counter measures. However, the opposition side proved to be much stronger than expected.

So, he decided to pull out the Rasengan Uzuhiko once again but this time, he revealed a key drawback to this technique. Before using the technique, the protagonist Sarada gives him some time to reload. During this time, he couldn't move his feet away from the Earth, so he needed Sarada to fight others in his stead.

Although the protagonist wasn't able to completely reload his technique, he still hit Hidari with an incomplete Rasengan Uzuhiko that was strong enough to pulverize the God Tree. This not only revealed the monstrous strength this jutsu technique had but also revealed its lethal flaw.

Moreover, this also explains why the protagonist engaged Code in such a needless long conversation because he was waiting for his technique to load up so that he could take care of the antagonist, just like he did with Hidari.
