Fans are anxiously waiting for the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movies since the latest season ended on a massive cliffhanger. The fourth installment of the series was incredibly successful, and the fanbase was thoroughly impressed with the way Ufotable handled the anime adaptation.

Now that the Hashira Training arc has concluded, the focus is now on the upcoming Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movies. There will be a trilogy of movies that will cover the entirety of the story arc. This section is by far the biggest story arc that the studio will adapt.

Naturally, fans are intrigued about Ufotable’s direction. There are a ton of debates on whether this arc requires an anime-original ending. Based on what was shown in the manga, the Infinity Castle arc does not require an anime-original ending.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movies: Why an anime-original ending isn’t required for this story arc

Manga readers will unanimously agree that the Infinity Castle arc is one of, if not the most exciting, story arcs in the series. It is lengthy and packs a ton of action in almost every page of the manga. Ufotable, as a studio, was known for adapting the manga series as it is without altering much.

There were few to no anime-original scenes until the Hashira Training arc. This story arc had only eight chapters, and Koyoharu Gotouge rushed this portion of the story. However, the animation studio decided to gamble and add a few anime-original scenes, which elevated the overall viewing experience.

The same approach might not necessarily give the same result for the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movies. One of the main reasons for adding anime-original scenes in the previous arc was due to the lack of exciting content. However, that is not the case with the Infinity Castle arc.

Some of the most exciting fights will be showcased in the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movies. For example, Zenitsu Agatsuma’s fight against Kaigaku is his best moment in the entire series. Furthermore, the trilogy of movies will conclude with the fight featuring Kokushibo, the Upper Moon 1 demon, and the demon hunters.

The strongest Upper Moon demon will face off against Gyomei Himejima, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Genya Shinazugawa, and Muichiro Tokito. Altering the outcome of the battle would completely shift the tone and atmosphere of the series. Certain deaths in the series are crucial in delivering the emotional impact.

This can be compared to Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s family and how their sacrifice was paramount to the progression of the plot. It is one of the most important plot points in the anime, and it marked the beginning of an all-out assault on Kibutsuji Muzan and his lackeys.

The way Koyoharu Gotouge approached this story arc is perfect as it is. Any alteration of the same would negatively impact the overall viewing experience of the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movies.

Stay tuned for more anime and manga news as 2024 progresses.
