The idea of a Demon Slayer prequel has been discussed among fans for quite some time now. The manga concluded its run a couple of years ago. This is a relatively short shonen series, which is why the concept of a prequel makes sense. Furthermore, the presence of certain characters in the series would be a great subject to explore, should a prequel be in the works.
The story revolves around demon hunters who are trying to take on Kibutsuji Muzan. He is the Demon King who created a horde of smaller demons and is actively trying to achieve true immortality. During the series, a character named Yoriichi Tsukiguni gained quite the popularity among fans.
A Demon Slayer prequel is a great idea because exploring the life of Yoriichi Tsukiguni would be incredibly entertaining to read and watch.

Demon Slayer prequel: A great potential for Koyoharu Gotouge to provide fans with additional content

A Demon Slayer prequel could explore the life of Yoriichi Tsukiguni. In the current animanga series, fans only got a glimpse of his abilities. He was introduced as a legendary swordsman who nearly killed Muzan all by himself.
This is a feat that is superhuman and no other demon hunter came close to achieving it. To put things into perspective, it took the combined efforts of three Hashira and other demon hunters to defeat Kokushibo. He was the Upper Moon 1 demon and far weaker than Muzan.
On the other hand, Yoriichi nearly managed to kill Muzan. The only reason he failed to do so was because of Muzan’s last-resort move. He managed to split his body into a couple of thousand pieces to flee from him. Since then, Muzan has actively avoided him, and the legendary swordsman eventually died of old age.

The series has plenty of elements to explore in a potential Demon Slayer prequel. One of the most important motifs in the manga series is Breathing Techniques, which was developed by Yoriichi himself to bridge the gap between humans and demons. The latter were far superior when compared to humans. Not only did Yoriichi develop Breathing Techniques but he also developed the Breath of the Sun.
This was something that Yoriichi designed specifically to destroy Muzan. It accounted for the Demon King’s anatomy and every form was designed to destroy crucial points. The prequel could explore the process of Yoriichi developing techniques and imparting the knowledge to other demon hunters as well. One of the highlights of the prequel will also be the fight that took place between Muzan and Yoriichi.

This, paired with Ufotable’s top-tier animation, would result in an entertaining watch overall. Furthermore, we could also get some insight into Yoriichi and Michikatsu’s relationship. Michikatsu’s transition from human to demon is also worth exploring in the Demon Slayer prequel.
