The Hidden Leaf Village is currently in a big crisis in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex as it does not have a proper leader. Shikamaru became a temporary replacement after Naruto, but without a bonafide Hokage, the village's fate remains in danger. Moreover, Sasuke's disappearance is also a minus because there is no one to protect the village from the shadows.
While the fandom might think of it as a drawback, it could be what forces the young shinobi to go out of their way and protect their village from harm. The biggest example of this was seen in Gojo Satoru's death in Jujutsu Kaisen. After the death of the strongest sorcerer, the young ones like Itadori and Yuta went beyond their capabilities and protected the world from Ryomen Sukuna.

Why the protectors of the Hidden Leaf Village might be better off receiving the Gojo Satoru treatment in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter 77 saw Kawaki sealing Naruto and Hinata inside a time space to protect them from Boruto in case Momoshiki took over his place.
During the events of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sasuke Uchiha was also consumed by a Claw Grime while protecting Boruto, reducing him to a chakra tree. With both of them now away from the Hidden Leaf Village, the young buds like Kawaki and Sarada had to buckle up to protect their village from harm.

Moreover, Shikamaru also became the temporary Hokage in Naruto's place but avoided becoming a permanent one because he was hoping for the return of the Seventh Hokage. Where the fandom might consider this an injustice against the Hidden Leaf Village and its young shinobi, it could be a much-needed set-up for the village to buckle up and get stronger.
As a prime example of this, let's look at what happened during the Shinjuku Showdown arc in Jujutsu Kaisen. After a heated clash between Sukuna and Gojo, the latter died.

As he was the strongest sorcerer, hopes were low to beat Sukuna, but the young sorcerers like Yuji and Yuta didn't give in and still fought. Awakening some new abilities and using some cheeky methods against the antagonists, the young sorcerers managed to kill Sukuna.
As of the current chapter in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the Shinju is the biggest threat to the Hidden Leaf Village. So, the young shinobi like Kawaki, Sarada, and Himawari need to buckle up in the absence of the village's protectors.
Final thoughts
As hard as the situation in the Hidden Leaf Village might be, it does seem like the young shinobi are not training enough to protect their home village as Boruto is the only one protecting the village and its residents.
Not only did his entry against Code save many villagers, but his Rasengan Uzuhiko was key to defeating Hidari. So, the Gojo Satoru treatment might still be in play for the young shinobi.
