Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the few animanga series that does not feature romance as a central theme. Instead, it focuses on dark fantasy, action, struggle, politics, tragedy, mystery, and moral ambiguity, among other elements.
There are few, if any, romantic angles in the series. However, there are instances of one-sided affection among certain characters, such as Hana Kurusu and Megumi Fushiguro. Early on, when Hana was formally introduced to the series, she displayed a strange fondness for Megumi.
It was only later revealed that Hana had developed deep feelings for Megumi, as he had once rescued her as a child. This awakened something in her, which is what this article aims to uncover.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Hana Kurusu's feelings towards Megumi, explained
In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 173, Hana Kurusu/Angel comes across an exhausted Megumi who has just fought and defeated Reggie Star. She carries Megumi to a hotel for him to recover, along with Yuji Itadori and Fumihiko Takaba. Later that night, he wakes up, and the group has a conversation about the Culling Games.
This is the second time Hana meets Megumi. Their first meeting occurred years earlier, when they were children. As per Jujutsu Kaisen lore, Hana was an orphaned young child held captive by a monstrous Cursed Spirit. Along with her, it had captured other children, behaving like their mother, feeding them but killing whoever cried or complained.
With no option but to reluctantly obey, Hana lived this way for about a whole year until she was saved by a young Megumi Fushiguro. He was out on a mission with Gojo Satoru and had gotten to know of this Curse. So, he used his white dog, shikigami, to help her escape. She was eternally grateful to him, and amid this, she fell for the boy.
Thus, Hana resolved herself to become someone who helped others like Megumi had helped her. She wanted to become worthy of one day standing by his side. So, Megumi unknowingly lit a spark inside young Hana, which she held on to for the longest time. Seeing him again during the Culling Games brought her joy, and she was eager to help him.
As mentioned earlier, Hana developed one-sided feelings for Megumi, the Ten Shadows user. What he did for her years ago was what gave her a chance at life. Had it not been for him, she would've remained in the captivity of the Cursed Spirit before one day perishing, either trying to escape or retaliating.
While Gege Akutami's series features romance in the minutest, it does hint at certain potential character pairings. Megumi and Hana are one such pairing that could have likely happened if not for Megumi's terrible fate. Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin is another pairing that has been teased. As exciting as they seem, whether or not they materialize is up to Akutami and the series' ending.
