Exploring why Jugram Haschwalth killed his friend, Bazz-B in Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12
The major highlight of Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12 was Jugram Haschwalth's friendship with Bazz-B and how he was eventually forced to kill his friend. However, before knowing why Jugram killed Bazz B in the episode, it's important to know about their friendship and how it turned sour.
Jugram Haschwalth first met Bazz-B in a forest while trying to catch a rabbit. Since he couldn't form Heilig Bogen (Holy Arrow) like the other Quincies, he only used normal bows made of wood. Bazz-B took a liking to Jugram and became his friend.
Right from the onset of their relationship, Bazz-B had a condescending attitude toward Jugram. He rather pitied him since he couldn't demonstrate the elementary Quincy techniques. Then one day, a certain incident changed their lives. Yhwach arrived from the Northern regions and burned Bazz-B's castle to cinders.
Since then, Bazz-B resolved to hone his strength to kill Yhwach. Jugram, whose uncle had also died in the forest fire, had nowhere to go. However, he relied on his friend, so he followed the same dream with him. Five years passed by, and Bazz B became stronger than ever. On the contrary, Jugram couldn't learn the basic Quincy techniques.
Bazz-B began to question whether it was wise for him to take Jugram under his wing in his quest for revenge. Then one day, they learned that Yhwach was looking for recruits for his new team, Sternritter. Bazz-B felt it was the ideal scenario for him to get closer to Yhwach and kill him.
However, Yhwach chose Jugram over him and pronounced the boy as his "other half." According to Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12, Jugram shared the same powers as Yhwach to share his abilities. Bazz-B's world turned upside down as he learned his genius was the influence of his friend, Jugo.
Meanwhile, Jugram was still confused. He looked back at Bazz-B to ask what he should do since he always relied on him. However, he couldn't believe to seeing Bazz-B's eyes, which were full of jealousy. The path of the two friends was set for a doomed future then.
Jugram chose to go with Yhwach, leaving his past with Bazz. On the other hand, Bazz-B still retained his urge to kill Yhwach. At the same time, he wanted to challenge Jugram and see who would win. Eventually, Bazz-B joined the Sternritters, where Jugram was already the commander of the team.
According to Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12, he continuously challenged Jugram to a battle when they were on the same team. However, the Sternritter Captain refused his request every time. Interestingly, he even stopped Hubert, an officer, from challenging Bazz-B.
So, why did Jugram Haschwalth kill Bazz-B in Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12? As was evident in the episode, Jugram had no intention to fight Bazz-B because somewhere inside he still considered him a friend. However, Bazz knew someday he would have to slay his friend since he retained his urge to kill Yhwach. Notably, Jugram didn't have a solid reason to kill the Quincy King.
Even though Jugram's uncle died in a forest fire caused by Yhwach, he was an abus*er, who made the boy's life hell. Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12 explicitly showed scars on Jugram's hands, with a strong implication that those were caused by his uncle.
Hence, the only reason he followed Bazz-B's dream was out of his loyalty to the boy. However, when Jugram saw Bazz-B's condescending, jealous eyes, his loyalty took a huge blow. Even though Bazz was still a friend deep down, Jugram could no longer return to his old ways.
Rather, he embraced his new life under Yhwach, who gave him a new purpose. Yet, he was conflicted. However, Jugram Haschwalth had to maintain a balance. It's an unfair balance between his friendship with Bazz and Yhwach. Unfortunately, the balance's scale tipped in Yhwach's favor.
Hence, Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12 saw Jugram Haschwalth demonstrate his excellent sword skills to dismantle Bazz-B's abilities. The Sternritter H went full-throttle against his former friend, using his Schrift H: The Heat. He wanted to see who would emerge victorious.
Deep down, Bazz-B knew he would lose. However, he wanted to end his internal suffering. He knew his friendship with Jugram was beyond saving, and perhaps that's why wanted to break free from his shackles. A suicidal battle was the only way. Thus, despite losing his one arm, Bazz-B pushed on.
Thus, in Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12, Bazz-B demonstrates his strongest move, Burner Finger Five: Burner Full Finger against Jugram. However, the Grandmaster blocked the attack with a simple hand gesture, further showing the huge disparity between their strength.
Then, with a swift sword movement, he sliced Bazz-B, leaving him with a gash on his chest. The Sternitter H lost a lot of blood as he fell to the ground. Yet, before his death, he acknowledged Jugram's victory. As for Jugram, Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12 didn't explicitly show his emotions. However, deep down, he was crushed.
Conclusion
Bazz-B's death in Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 12 was one of the pivotal moments in the series. Undoubtedly, his death scene speaks a lot about Jugram's commitment to his duties. His loyalty to Yhwach left him with no choice but to engage in a battle with his former friend, which ended in the latter's death.
