Jujutsu Kaisen's final chapter is set to be released on September 30, 2024. With the finale just a few minutes away, the fandom cannot wait to see what fate the trio of protagonists holds as they end their journey as professional sorcerers. However, before the series concludes, it is very interesting to see what ending the fandom wants to see the protagonists face.

As the trend has been from the start of the series, the trio of protagonists have faced the worst situations, from Itadori and Megumi being mentally tortured through Sukuna's acts, to Nobara being tortured by her own decisions. So, this automatically excluded the fandom from considering a happy ending for the protagonists, which will be revealed in the finale.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Exploring why the fandom can't speculate a happy ending for the protagonist trio

Jujutsu Kaisen will be reaching its conclusion in a few days and the fate of the protagonist trio (Itadori Yuji, Fushigoro Medumi, and Kugisaki Nobara) is one of the hottest questions the fans want answered. However, the views of the fandom are not so bright regarding this, considering how the characters have been suffering from the start of the series.

Itadori Yuji was introduced as the vessel for the rebirth of Ryomen Sukuna, the main antagonist of the series, who became the reason for the suffering of the protagonist. First came the death of Junpei Yoshino, the first friend Itadori made outside of Jujutsu Tech whom he couldn't protect from Mahito, a special-grade curse.

This was followed by the Shibuya arc incident where Sukuna took over Itadori and massacred hundreds of people which left the protagonist traumatized. This was followed by the departure of Kento Nanami, Gojo Satoru, Choso, and some other sorcerers who were close to Itadori.

Fushigoro Megumi had only one aim in life and that was to revive her sister from her sleep and enjoy being with family. However, his life took a drastic turn when Yorozu, an ancient cursed spirit, took over her body and betrayed him.

This was followed by Megumi becoming the next host of Sukuna. Unfortunately, the first thing Sukuna did was challenge Yorozu (Tsumiki) and kill her using Megumi's cursed technique, thus sending him into a state of depression.

Kugisaki Nobara always wanted to get out of the bonnies and enjoy the shiny life of Tokyo. For this reason, she became a cursed sorcerer and was enrolled in the same class as Itadori and Megumi. Although the start of her journey was a bumpy one, it became even worse afterward.

During the Shibuya arc, Nobara faced Mahito and despite having the upper hand in battle, she took Mahito's Idle Transfiguration point blank and made a close escape from death. As of the second-last chapter of the series, the protagonist trio is back in their regular lives. So, the lives of all three protagonists were filled with suffering.

With only one chapter remaining in the series, there is little chance that the author could give them a proper 'happy ending' where they would enjoy their lives as normal sorcerers. As Gege Akutami has continued the trend of making his characters suffer from the start, he might end the series on a similar not, which is what the majority of the fandom is expecting.
