Reo Mikage and Nagi Seishiro are likely Blue Lock's fan-favorite duo. Introduced at the beginning, Reo and Nagi's breathtaking coordination and teamwork were on display when Team Z faced Team V. Not only on the field but off the field as well, Reo and Nagi were inseparable.

As more of the story unfolded, Reo and Nagi's dynamics came to light, and it was revealed that the former had pushed Nagi to play football, thus awakening his dormant talents. But why is Reo so fond of Nagi? The reason is that Reo was Nagi's first friend and realized that Nagi was the one he needed, with the pair promising to win the World Cup together.

Before Nagi, Reo was in search of a footballer on his quest to rise in the ranks and win the World Cup one day. As fate had it, the purple-haired boy stumbled upon Nagi by chance and witnessed the manner in which he trapped and caught his phone from falling. Thus, he had found the one he was eagerly searching for.

That was the birth of the Reo Mikage-Nagi Seishiro duo. Nagi was the chosen one in Reo's eyes. He respected the raw natural talent that the white-haired boy possessed and was quick to realize the latent potential within him.

Moreover, as they had a shared dream and with Nagi at his side, Reo felt that it was well within reach. Despite the bumps in their relationship at Blue Lock, his respect for Nagi did not falter.

It was a stroke of fate that Reo one day stumbled upon the genius Nagi. Witnessing what he was capable of, Reo knew that he was the one. It surprised Reo to learn that Nagi was a total newbie to football. Thus, he wanted to push Nagi to play with him, saying they might even turn Pro. He realized that Nagi was the chosen one he was in search of.

However, Nagi was reluctant to play and put in the effort, instead desiring to live a lazy and carefree life. That only made Reo pursue him further as he had witnessed his natural talent and potential. Nagi eventually gave in to Reo's persistence, and they began to play together. Moreover, Reo would try his best to make Nagi's life easier.

Reo would do things like giving him a ride to school, carrying him on his back, and more. Their relationship started on the grounds of mutual benefit - Reo pushing Nagi to realize his talent and Nagi using his skills to bring Reo closer to his dream of playing the ultimate soccer and one day winning the World Cup. However, upon entering the Blue Lock project, their relationship takes a hit.

Interacting with other players like Isagi Yoichi prompts Nagi to begin forming his own identity and ambition and propels him to play football differently. As such, tension is created between them.

Reo felt that Nagi abandoned him when he began chasing his own goals and playing football for himself instead of their shared dream. Even so, the pair stay linked - Reo attempting to come to terms with his mixed feelings for Nagi’s growth, and Nagi, on the flip side, caring for his friend but wanting to see him grow on his own terms.
