Supervised by the original creator Tite Kubo, Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War anime has shown Uryu Ishida in a new light. In the third installment's premiere, the Quincy broke free from Senjumaru Shutara's Bankai and showcased his abilities to defeat the Great Weave Guard.
Yet, before the battle, Uryu Ishida's eyes momentarily turned red, with blutvene-like animation surrounding them. Senjumaru taunted Uryu saying that he had developed "new powers" from the Quincy King's awakening.
While the Quincy's eyes turning red could be a sign of his Schrift's activation, which creates a reversal of situations between him and his foe, some fans have come up with theories that it could be the fourth Iris of the Almighty. This theory also suggests a possible connection between Uryu Ishida and the Soul King.

Exploring the connection between Uryu Ishida and the fourth iris of The Almighty in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War
One of the biggest missed opportunities by Tite Kubo in the Thousand-year Blood War arc was not properly showcasing Uryu Ishida's feats. However, being directly involved in the Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War anime's production, the esteemed author has been rectifying his errors, with numerous additions and omissions.
One such instance was the anime original battle between Uryu Ishida and Senjumaru Shutara in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War part 3. When Yhwach awakened his Almighty powers, it affected Uryu and the other Schutzstaffels, as they broke free from the confinements of Senjumaru Shutara's Bankai.
With renewed power, Uryu Ishida confronted the Great Weave Guard. Interestingly, prior to the battle, the Quincy's eyes flickered a reddish hue and showed a blutvene-like animation sequence. Considering it happened right after Yhwach had gained the second pupil of his Almighty eyes, some fans believe Uryu has also awakened the Almighty powers.
Many fans took to Twitter to share their theories, with most of them believing that Uryu may have awakened the fourth iris of the Almighty. One fan, with the username @vivekkun867, on X (Twitter) has elaborated the theory. The user explains that the Almighty power has many levels.
With one Iris, Yhwach can demonstrate the full extent of a Quincy's powers. As he gains the second iris, the Quincy King awakens the power to see into the future. Everything he sees in the future can't be used against him. Likewise, with the third iris, Yhwach can not only see into the future but alter it.
Later, the Quincy King absorbs the Soul King and develops multiple eyes, with which he can rewrite his death. Yet, Yhwach doesn't develop an extra iris, i.e., the fourth one, like the Soul King. According to the theory, Uryu Ishida may have the fourth iris of the Almighty, which essentially has the "Antithesis" ability.
In the manga, Uryu Ishida's A: Antithesis schrift lets him select two designated points and reverse anything that has happened with him and his foe in that timeframe. It's essentially how Uryu defeated Senjumaru in the latest episode. According to the theory, the Schrift could be a result of Uryu having the Almighty's fourth iris.
However, why would Uryu have the fourth Iris? It's revealed in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War anime that Yhwach gained Almighty because he's the Soul King's descendant. As such, since Ryuken (Uryu's father) is an Echt Quincy (pure blood Quincy), there's a possibility that Uryu is connected to Yhwach, and consequently, to the Soul King.
Moreover, while choosing Uryu as his successor, Yhwach mentioned that he (Uryu) had powers that surpassed his own. Rightly so, if Uryu had the powers of the Almighty eyes dormant within him, it makes sense why he survived the Auschwahlen as a Gemischt or a mixed-blood Quincy.
Besides, in the latest Q&A session in his Klub Outside blog, Tite Kubo was asked why Uryu Ishida survived Szayel Aporro and Ulquiorra's attacks in the Hueco Mundo Arc, given the fact that Quincies don't have antibodies against Hollows. Kubo replied that Uryu was "special." Undoubtedly, Uryu having the Almighty eyes makes him stand out.
Yet, it's only a theory at this point, with no confirmation from the author. Uryu's eyes turning red could also be a sign of him activating his Schrift, which has the same letter as Yhwach's. It's also possible that his eyes turned red like Yhwach because he drank Quincy King's blood during the Successor ceremony. As such, it remains to be seen how the Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War anime illustrates Uryu's character later in the series.
Conclusion
Uryu having the fourth Iris of the Almighty in Bleach: Thousand-year Blood War anime could totally change his character arc in the series. It would also establish him as the proper deuteragonist, next to the protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki.
Tite Kubo perhaps wants to reimagine Uryu Ishida's role in the Thousand-year Blood War arc and answer several mysteries surrounding the character. While the theory has many credible points, it remains to be seen whether the anime adaptation indeed projects Uryu as the possessor of the Almighty eyes.
