Haro Aso’s Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead anime adaptation made an impressive debut, becoming one of the greatest premieres of all time. Despite having a relatively modest initial following, it quickly gained a substantial fan base within just a few episodes.

One of the key reasons for its popularity is the production house, Bug Studio, which captivated the audience with the animation. Credit for the anime’s success also goes to Kazuki Kawagoe, a highly respected director in the anime industry who has been associated with various projects as an episode director.

Their combined efforts contributed to the rise of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead as a beloved series. However, the fame proved to be short-lived, as the constant delays in the anime’s release schedule significantly affected its standing among other shows released in 2023.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead faced production delays since episode 4

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead faced continuous delays of a week or two for each episode from the fourth to the ninth. These disruptions significantly impacted the show’s popularity. Fans who were deeply engaged with the series’ dystopian storyline, captivating characters, and intriguing setting became increasingly frustrated.

In Japan, the latest episodes of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead adhered to the schedule but were delayed worldwide on platforms like Netflix, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and others. These delays ranged from just one day to a significant two-week postponement.

While there have been instances with no official statements regarding the postponements, it was evident that production issues were at the root of the problem.

The situation took a more disheartening turn when Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead episode 10 was placed on an indefinite hiatus, leaving fans uncertain about when the series would make its return. This unexpected development has left the fandom in suspense and eager for updates.

For anime enthusiasts closely following the 2023 schedule, it’s been a year marked by an unusual number of production delays. Initially, these delays were largely attributed to COVID-19 issues, but they gradually transformed into broader production-related setbacks.

One of the earliest casualties of production delays in 2023 was NieR: Automata Ver1.1a. Originally slated for a 12-episode run with a planned conclusion by April 2023, the series was significantly extended due to multiple postponements, dragging on for at least six months.

Similarly, Uncle From Another World, which made its debut on July 6, 2022, didn’t reach its conclusion until March 8, 2023, taking nearly a year to complete. These delays disrupted the expectations of both fans and creators alike. Furthermore, it’s not just these three series that have suffered from production setbacks this year.

Titles like UniteUp!, The Misfit of Demon King Academy, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible, Ayakashi Triangle, Spy Classroom, and many others have faced similar challenges, impacting their release schedules and testing the patience of their dedicated fan bases.

These delays have highlighted the challenges and uncertainties that the anime industry grapples with in its efforts to deliver high-quality content to a global audience.
