Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44 — Will and Lihanna face the Puppet Master's wrath

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44 was released on August 8, 2024. As expected, the chapter showcased Will Serfort and Lihanna Owenzaus confronting the Puppet master, who controlled Emma and eliminated Julius Reinberg. Will and Lihanna demonstrated a fascinating strategy to overwhelm their opponent, but the Dark Magic user's trump card turned the tide of the battle.

In the previous chapter, Will Serfort discovered that Julius was brutally killed during his quest to search for the Terminalia traitor. However, the boy remained composed and racked his brain to locate the perpetrator. Finally, he and Lihanna figured out that someone controlling Emma had ended the boy's life.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44 begins with a flashback, where Emma is seen in trauma, recalling the death of his brother, Ian, for which she is responsible. The unknown puppeteer uses the opportunity to ensnare the girl under her control. Back to the present, the dark mage invites Will and Lihanna to come after her.

Will smells Belledors and figures out that the dark mage has been making Emma gather those flowers. Meanwhile, Lihanna can't believe a puppet spell practitioner is alive since they are supposed to be executed. The mage mocks her saying that the authorities must have missed one.

Following that in Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44, Will Serfort asks the puppet practitioner whether she's part of the Gohtia, what she wants, and how she has entered the tower. However, the dark mage doesn't answer any of Will's questions but mocks him.

Will feels they must be dealing with a remnant of Gohtia. Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44 then shows Will and Lihanna facing the Puppet practitioner, who demonstrates Verdes Lana, a combination of Emma's wind magic and her dark magic.

She follows it up with Berzeme Sique: Maevlus Kadzuul, a move that brings chains from Will and Lihanna's shadows. Lihanna feels it's a type of esoteric magic she has never seen. The dark mage mocks Will and Lihanna for failing to hide their shadows.

Lihanna moves quickly using her thunder magic to escape the chains and fires a destructive spell, but the puppet practitioner uses Emma as her shield. Meanwhile, Will Serfort analyzes his opponent and figures out that the chains emerging from her wand are what is controlling Emma. The chapter then shows the dark mage dealing another destructive dark magic spell at the mages.

While analyzing the puppet master, Will realizes that even though the mage has esoteric magic as puppet manipulation, she hasn't used it on them. He feels they will likely lose if they get turned into her puppets. However, the fact that they haven't suggests there's a complicated method to cast such a spell.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44 then shows the dark mage ordering Emma to use her Guardians against Will and Lihanna. The thunder mage gets an idea, to which Will willfully agrees.

Lihanna uses Owensique Lisolde Dua, a thunder spell for Will to prime and demonstrate as Dualus Wis against the dark mage. Will and Lihanna's unique strategy baffles the puppet master, who cannot fathom how they are faster than other thunder mages.

As frontline fighters in perfect harmony, Will and Lihanna break the chains from Emma. The narrative for Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44 then shows Lunais, Jhorua, and other mages surrounding the puppet master. It is revealed that Will had Lunais and Jhorua gather reinforcements for the fight against the mage.

However, the dark mage laughs at Lihanna and the other mages' "stupidity." She demonstrates a spell and turns the reinforcements into her puppets. Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44 confirms that the chains aren't the trick to turning one into a puppet, but the scent of Belledors.

Apparently, she had been working on it even before Will and Lihanna arrived at the Tower. She declares that she will crush the Tower down to its very foundation. Will Serfort thinks he cannot move from his spot, especially while guarding Emma. However, the girl implores Will to run and save himself.

At that moment, the dark mage controls Emma once again and delivers a heavy spell at Will Serfort to send him flying. Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 44 ends with Lihanna screaming after seeing Will in an excessively wounded state.
