Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1 — Will Serfort's shocking connection with Mercedes is teased

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1 was released on Monday, September 9, 2024. The chapter revealed a shocking connection between Will Serfort and Mercedes, the magic queen, as the boy demonstrated an unknown spell against the puppeteer from Gohita, Shade.

In the previous chapter, Will Serfort and Lihanna Owenzaus confronted Shade, the puppet practitioner, who controlled Emma and murdered Julius Reinberg. Although Will and Lihanna's combined strategy cornered Shade, the dark mage's trump card turned the tide of the battle.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1: Shade discovers Mercedes inhabiting inside Will Serfort's mind

Picking up the events from the previous chapter, Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1, titled Abyssal Origin (1) commences with Lihanna Owenzaus screaming after seeing Will Serfort in an injured state.

Kiki is also upset by the whole situation, as she growls. Lihanna tries to break Shade's magical chains that restrict her movements. She realizes the chains are siphoning her magic energy.

With her strength slipping away, Lihanna becomes unable to move even her wand. Meanwhile, Shade mocks the mages being outwitted by her.

She haughtily declares that she didn't need anyone's help to capture them. Elsewhere, Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1 shows Finn stopping a hooded mage trying to cast a magic spell in Will's direction.

The chapter implies that Finn wants to see what Will can do in his extreme situation. Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1 then switches the perspective to Shade, who wants to get over with her mission of bringing back Will as a puppet, while destroying the infernal tower.

She commends the boy for putting on an incredible show. The dark mage from Gohtia adds that it's tiresome to make the puppet spells work; she has to dig into the would-be puppet's memory to find a proper trauma to hook her chains into. She can't control her puppets without them.

The dark mage then recounts Emma's reactions when she recalled her past trauma. Unable to do anything in her current condition, Lihanna Owenzaus implores Will Serfort to open his eyes.

Meanwhile, Shade chants a magic spell, Berzeme Sique: Mavelus Haller, to dive into Will Serfort's memory. After entering Will's mind, the dark mage notices the boy's memories from childhood.

While she can see some dark spots, the mage searches deeper to find a proper trauma. Yet to her shock, Shade gets shot by multiple light-like arrows inside Will's mind. Suddenly, the dark mage notices flower petals and a mysterious figure sitting on a throne.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1 shows Mercedes, the founder of the Mercedes Caulis & the Magic Queen, in Will Serfort's memory. She kicks Shade out of Will's consciousness with her ocular powers.

After returning to the real world, Shade notices Will has broken free from her chains. She observes to her horror that Will has eaten her spell.

A panel in Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1 then shows Will Serfort's right eye having the same marks as Mercedes. In a possessed state, Will demonstrates a type of forbidden dark magic.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword chapter 45 part 1 ends with Will Serfort's mysterious spell, Melgitor, annihilating Shade.
