With his unyielding determination and mastery over swordsmanship, Will shocked his professor and showed him why he had the right to dream of becoming a Magia Vander. Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures have done a phenomenal job of portraying the events from Fujino Omori's manga in animated form in this episode.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2: Edward Serfence puts Will Serfort through a "test" to gauge his talent
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2 begins with a scene from the past, where Will Serfort was ridiculed for being unable to cast any magic spells. However, Caldron, the principal of the Rigarden Magic Academy, gave him a blade, with which the boy showcased that he was no less than ones who wield a wand.
Caldron allowed Will to join the academy and assured him that he too could become a Magia Vander if he had the determination and skill. The principal wanted to see the boy's journey and his willpower. Following that, Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2 returns to the present, and shifts the focus to the classroom.
Workner Norgram gives a lecture on what it means to climb the Tower. He reveals that one must advance to the "Top Class," and become considered an "Upper Class." However, that's not all; A mage must reach the Superior Class either by creating a new magic or getting credits in the academy.
Since few can create new magic spells, most students decide to advance using the second method. However, Workner rebukes everyone that they won't even graduate if they slack off.
After Workner's lecture, Will Serfort and Colette converse in the hallway, where they see some students flocking around Shion, praising him for defeating a monster worth 10 credits. Will's presence nearby infuriates Shion, who thinks he's mocking him.
Elsewhere in Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2, Edward Serfence demands to Caldron that Will Serfort must be expelled. He feels the academy requires wizards, not warriors. Moreover, he argues that Will cannot cast a single magic spell.
However, the principal reminds him that the boy has already reached the highest class of the sixth year, earning impressive credits. Nevertheless, she allows Edward to give the boy a "test," considering he discovered the truth about Will. She adds that If the boy fails, Edward can do anything with him.
Caldron knows that Edward, as the Dark Serpent Wizard and the closest to the Magia Vanders, can evaluate the actual talent of Will Serfort. Following that, Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2 switches the location to the academy's study hall, where Will and Colette are seen studying together.
Will analyzes the historical battle of Garzaronso, where dwarves were exploited as laborers. Even though the boy has a solid academic record, he doesn't want to drop even a single credit and lose his chance of advancing to the Higher Class.
At that moment, Edward arrives at the room and tells Will to come to the practice field. He tells the boy that since he's failing every practical class, he wants to make an exception and give him a make-up class. Edward throws a challenge to Will.
If the boy can hit him even once, he will give him five credits. However, if he doesn't, he will get expelled. Edward sternly tells Will Serfort that a useless person shouldn't be dreaming of becoming a Magia Vander.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2: Will demonstrates his hunger to shock Edward
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2 show the duel between Will and Edward. The Dark Serpent Wizard demonstrates low-level dark magic, Dark Dalbicans, to overwhelm an unarmed Will. Meanwhile, Workner arrives at the principal's office upon being summoned.
She reveals to him about the test and forbids him to stop it. However, Workner feels it's cruel to let Edward conduct the test since he came the closest to becoming a Magia Vander. Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2 reveal that Edward Serfence once made it to the top of the tower.
Following that, Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2 returns to the practice field, where the Wizard demonstrates a barrage of Dark Dalbicans at Will Serfort. He also uses a magical field called Dirge to shield against Will's kicks.
The protagonist realizes the massive difference in power levels, yet refuses to give up. Kiki, the magical feline friend of Will, sneaks out of the field and meets Colette in the hallway. The girl realizes that Will is in trouble. She opens the boy's locker room and retrieves his sword.
With defeat looming large for Will, Colette arrives at the right time to give the boy his blade. Meanwhile, Will Serfort reveals to Edward that he wants to become a Magia Vander to be close to Elfaria, the one he loves. Although Edward ridicules the boy's immoral aspirations, Will knows that nothing can change his mind.
He puts on his goggles and wields his blade to fight back against his professor's barrage of dark magic spells. Will quickly maneuvers to dodge the Dark Dalbicans to get closer to Edward. Suddenly, he leaps up and finds an opening.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2 then shows Will Serfort diving from above to shatter Edward Serfence's shield. He manages to scratch his face with his blade to pass the test. Edward grudgingly gives the boy the five credits he promised.
Meanwhile, Caldron and Workner, who have been observing the test through a crystal vision, praise Will Serfort's strategy to overwhelm a mage. Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 2 ends with the principal applauding the boy for overcoming magic with a powerful slash.
