The episode begins with a scene from the past in the Rigarden Academy, showing how Will Serfort was ridiculed for being unable to cast magic. However, Caldron, the academy's principal, gave him a sword and assured him that if he had determination, he could become a Magia Vander.

Following that, the narrative returns to the present, and shows Workner lecturing his students on what it means to climb the tower. He reveals that a mage must reach the "Superior Class," by creating a new type of magic or earning credits in the academy.

Meanwhile, Shion continues to behave coldly toward Will, even though the boy saved his life in the dungeon. On the other hand, Edward Serfence demands from Caldron that Will should be expelled from the academy. He feels Rigarden Magic Academy does not require wizards, but warriors.

However, Caldron reminds Edward about the boy's accomplishments. Nevertheless, he allows him to give Will a test and see if he's fit to stay in the academy. Following the principal's suggestion, Edward summons Will to the practice field.

He tells the boy that he wants to offer him a make-up class since he's failing every practical test. Edward sets a rule, according to which, if Will can hit him even once, he will be awarded five credits. Otherwise, he will be expelled.

He adds that it's a non-negotiable offer. The duel begins and Will realizes the steep difference in their power levels. Edward demonstrates low-level dark magic and severely injures the boy. During the battle, the wizard asks Will what drives him to become a Magia Vander.

The boy reveals that he wants to climb the tower and become a Magia Vander so that he can watch the sunset with his beloved, Elfaria. Edward detests Will's immortal aspirations. He demonstrates a barrage of Dark Dalbicans to decimate Will.

However, the boy's exceptional swordsmanship and strategy spoil his plans. Will leaps from above to shatter the wizard's seemingly impenetrable shield and scratch his face with his blade. Edward accepts his defeat and awards the boy five credits.
