Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 3 recap

While handing out the newspapers in the morning as part of his morning job, Will Serfort notices an order placed by the Upper Institute of the mages. He finds out that the client is Elfaria. As per the order, the mages need to acquire the cores from the Frost Walkers found in the dungeon's fourth floor.

Will Serfort asks his roommate, Rosty, to create some magic artificers for him, to which he happily agrees. Following that, Will ventures into the dungeon and notices several mages engaged in combat against the Frost Walkers.

During the quest, he saves a girl named Iris, who is a massive fan of Elfaria and the Magia Vanders. Iris reveals that she's in the academy's fourth year, or, in other words, two years junior to Will. Elsewhere in the Rigarden Magic Academy, Workner lectures on the importance of creating new magic spells.

He feels one can be immortalized on the pages of history by creating such moves. That's how Elfaria was instated as one of the Magia Vanders. Colette attends the class and thinks about Will. She feels the boy must have gone to the dungeon to complete Elfaria's order.

Meanwhile, Will Serfort analyzes the dungeon and speculates that a major threat lurks around the corner. Suddenly, a Frost Rex appears. Iris tells Will he can't fight it since only range magic spells work on the monster.

However, the protagonist knows that fire and bombs are Frost Rex's natural enemies. He uses Rosty's magic artificers to detonate the enemy. Meanwhile, Iris thinks there's a vast gap between the rumors and the reality of Will Serfort's abilities.

The episode reveals that Iris is a Watcher appointed by the Upper Institute to scout potential mages from the academy. She goes to the tower to report her findings to the Magia Vanders. Iris recommends Will's name, even though the boy cannot cast magic spells.

While the Magia Vanders disregard the boy's name, they settle to wait for the Grand Magic Festival before deciding. On the other hand, Elfaria hopes to meet her childhood friend soon.
