Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9: Will Serfort face the blunt from Wignall and others due to his lack of magic
Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9 begin with Logwell reporting to Cariot about the Praxis test. During their conversation, it is revealed the King hasn't returned from his expedition. Meanwhile, the students commence their dungeon dive as Edward officially begins the test.
Refusing to be overtaken by others, Lihanna's party showcases their magic prowess to eliminate several monsters in the dungeon. Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9 then reveals through a flashback that "Search" is the most important spell in the dungeon, which allows mages to detect enemies.
However, Will's inability to use Search lands him at a disadvantage as he fails to detect the enemies faster than his teammates. The boy realizes his teammates' Search spell has a wider range than his senses. As such, they take out the enemies faster than he can even anticipate.
Wignall, who accepted Will into the team before, now questions Lihanna's judgment. Likewise, Julius feels Will Serfort will only hold them back with his lack of magic. Meanwhile, Will Serfort is seen collecting item drops from the defeated monsters.
Apparently, when a mage defeats a monster in the dungeon, they collect its magical traces via their wand. The wand stores the battle's record, credits, and other essential information.
However, in Will's case, he has to manually pick up every item drop and monster's remains to earn credits. He thinks he has to look for other ways to help his party, but all he can do is stand and watch his teammates defeat one monster after another. With no chance of stepping up, Will wonders whether he has to spend the entire praxis carrying everyone's bags.
The narrative for Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9 then switches the perspective to Lihanna, who feels they must rest for a while. On her cue, Wignall uses his fairy magic, Nardrea, to build a fortress of flames to keep the monsters away.
Inside the safety zone, Will Serfort passes the rations to everyone. However, Wignall refuses to take it directly from his hand. Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9 reveals that the elves only make physical contact with those they deem worthy.
Wignall doesn't want to touch Will by accident because the only person he deems worthy of the party is Lihanna. Colette stands up for Will but the boy tells her to let it go. He knows the elves have their own culture and customs, and they don't bother him.
According to Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9, Elves and Dwarves, are both from another world. However, Elves are a magical race, so they are treated with reverence. They are also better than mages in plenty of things. Even Ellenor, one of the Magia Vander, is the Elven queen.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9: Lihanna's party faces a disaster in the dungeon
While resting in the dungeon, Lihanna gives a pep talk to everyone. She informs the mages that their priority is to defeat Luminous Naberus, the 10th floor's Floor Keeper, worth 110 credits. Lihanna reveals that she made the party with the sole objective of defeating Luminous Naberus.
Julius feels it won't be easy because many mages have perished while taking on the monster. However, Lihanna wants to show the Tower that they are strong enough to take down a 110-credit beast in the dungeon. The mages then take the shortest route to the 10th floor to conserve their energy.
Elsewhere, the mysterious mages from before continue with their onslaught, decapitating more faculty members from the Rigarden Academy. Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9 then switch to Lihanna's party, who observes the corpses of several monsters lying around on the 10th floor.
Julius wonders whether another party is involved. Will checks the corpses and realizes they are torn apart by brute force. At that moment, the party witnesses to their horror the corpse of Lumious Naberus, the Floor Keeper.
Suddenly, a gigantic monster ambushes them. The monster's impact on the floor breaks the ground and sends the party to different zones on the lower floor.
Lihanna, who is with Colette, fears they are outside the Academy's territory, the Nightmare's Maw. It's a vast region that extends to the 15th floor. Only the mages from the Tower enter this region. Elsewhere, Will falls to the lower floor with Wignall, whose left arm gets wounded. Likewise, Sion and Julius are seen in a separate zone.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9: The Praxis gets canceled, Will's composure astonishes Wignall
The narrative for Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9 switches the perspective to Wignall, who recounts a nightmarish experience from his past. Ellenor is seen calling him a disgrace to the elven race for not producing decent illusions. Following that, the elven mage regains consciousness and notices the corpse of a serpent-like monster beside him.
He can't believe Will has defeated such a dangerous beast. Meanwhile, Will tries to tend to Wignall's wounds. However, the elven mage refuses to let the boy touch him and applies the bandage himself. After calculating their remaining supplies, Serfort feels they might have only 24 hours before they run out of everything.
Wignall feels they should wait for the rescue team. However, Will Serfort thinks they will die if they don't do anything. Rather than waiting for help, he wants to wander around the labyrinth and look for Colette and others.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9 shifts to the upper floors, where Workner and Edward learn about the multiple faculty members' death. Eliza, one of the professors of the Rigarden Academy, informs Workner that a horde of monsters has leveled their base camp. Edward promptly cancels the Praxis test and heads to the students' rescue with Workner.
Elsewhere, Will Serfort advises the elven mage to refrain from using his Search spell too much, as using it in succession can deplete the mage's magic. Wignall snaps at Will, asking him what they should do if an enemy ambushes them.
However, the boy remains calm and tells him that instead of worrying about surprise attacks, they should avoid fighting as much as possible. Wignall can't believe how Will can stay composed.
The boy smiles and tells the mage that he intends to climb the tower, so he wants to do whatever it takes to get the praxis credits. He adds that he has more dungeon experience than him.
At that moment, Will and Wignall notice multiple swine demons, called Gergesa, charging in their direction. The former showcases his impressive combat skills to decimate some of the beasts. Wignall is wowed by Will's ability to turn knowledge into wisdom and learn the unknown.
He begins to question his abilities. At that moment, a Gergersa ambushes Wignall. The elven mage panics and uses his illusion magic. However, the spell doesn't work.
Will Serfort then charges at the Gergesa, severing it in half before it could kill Wignall. The boy reveals that illusion magic doesn't work on Gergesas since they don't have eyes. Wignall dejectedly laughs. Wistoria: Wand and Sword episode 9 end with Wignall calling himself a failure.
